    Your favourite MOVIE

I was going to call this thread Your favourite film then remembered this is a photographic forum and it might cause some confusion....Wink [;)] Got the idea for this thread from the the MY NEW CAR post in the other thread...

So here goes what is your favourite film You can break it into categories e.g. Sci Fi, Horror, Thriller, Drama etc

So here's mine in no particular order

Sci Fi Star Wars (7 years old when it opened queued up for about 2 hours to see it)

    Drama Shawshank redemption

Comedy/humour Oh Brother Where Art Thou (just about the best soundtrack of a film ever) closely followed by The Blues Brothers (again an excellent sound track to boot)

Horror SOOO many to choose so sub categorising (is that a word?) this one

Slasher this is between  Wrong Turn or Texas Chainsaw Massacre or The Hills Have Eyes (remake)

Psychological Horror Hannibal, Red Dragon, Silence of the Lambs et al Hannibal Lecter films

Courtroom Drama This is a hard one but probably A Time To Kill (Samuel L Jackson)

Gratuitous Violence has to be Pulp Fiction and From Dusk Til Dawn (or anything Tarantinoesque)

War Movie Modern Full Metal Jacket,

War Movie Classic hard one but probably The Dambusters or The Great Escape

Xmas Movie Miracle on 34th Street (the remake with Sir Dickie Attenborough)

Classic B&W has to be HARVEY (James Stewart just about one of the best "Film Stars" ever imo)

Western would be Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid

So come on get your movie heads on and tell others what movies you like to curl up to once you've finished shooting your sensors to oblivion and worn your eyes out in the digital darkroom.

The camera never lies (but the software does if you have it)

    Re: Your favourite MOVIE

Have to have a good think about that. I agree about Full Metal Jacket but think the original, with your best actor ever in it, of Miracle on 34th Street was best. Big Smile [:D]

    Re: Your favourite MOVIE

Not a great movie buff and don't have favourites in all categories, but.....Brief Encounter, The Third Man, The Shining, American Werewolf in London, Genevieve, It's a Wonderful Life....still thinking.

What I really like are those classic old American film noirs with people like Humphrey Bogart, Robert Mitchum, Barbara Stanwyck etc. and British films of the 40s and 50s rspecially the really bad ones, the old 'B' movies in b/w where people are always getting shot but never have a mark on them.

    a few mediocre pics

Hmm, would rate Graveyard of the Fireflies as equal to Princess Mononoke.

Ring (japanese not god-awful Hollywood version)

    Amelie

    It's a Wonderful Life

    Alien

Favourite movies of all time in no particular genre or Order

Empire Strikes Back (THE best of the series by a coutnry mile)

Godfather II (DeNiro AND Pacino in the same film!)

Sin City (Dark, Moody, Differnet BRILLIANT)

Comedy is difficult - Pink Panther Strikes Again or Scent Of A Woman (if that's a comedy)

Apocalype Now (probably the best War film ever imho)
