I think Ade will be in trouble, as he is in breach of H&S regulations by attempting to open a fire door when there was no fire*; and while failing to wear a safety helmet.  We won't go into assault on a fire door by head butt Devil [6]

BTW, Ade - were these very tall fire doors? I can't ask if you are short, as that would be politically incorrect Wink [;)]

*A couple of years back I was formally warned by business park management, as I triggered the burglar alarms by using a fire door to leave the building after the alarm had sounded - fire doors could only be used in the event of a real fire... Huh? [:^)]

Sorry, its one of those fire doors that can be used normally and links parts of the building together, but they close themselves behind you and have all of the "do not leave open" things on. But it was left open, with a chair...

Is it possible to get delayed concussion? Cause Ive been fading in and out all day and felt like I was going to throw up earlier, and a good couple of times when I felt like I was going to faint (which I just sat down to regain myself) I also got asked by a colleague why I was staring at a wall...

I also keep getting a really strong smell of blood every now and again...

I was fine last night, except for the pain and bleeding...

    veggiesosage:
A Christian woman who has already thrown her religious conviction to the wind by working as a registrar, thereby in Christian eyes participating in a system that supports adultary by marrying divorcees and couples living in sin, has just been successful in her claim of religious discrimination because Islington Council required her to abide by its equal opportunities policy and officiate on civil partnership ceremonies. These are apparently against her religion. Apparently she was upset about being called homophobic.

I have no doubt that everyone will agree with me that this is the compensation culture gone mad and that we're all going to hell in a handcart bending over backwards changing our laws for these fundamentalists.

Next week, a Jedi refuses to serve a man on the till at Tesco because 'the Dark Side is strong in this one'...Big Smile [:D]

Hmm, I wondered when this type of conflict would come to a head. Interesting, I believe if this was to occur here in Canada she would have officially been labled a Homophobe, pilloried and perhaps
pi**ed on in the public square. The Homosexual lobby having far more power here than the religious one. Err, let me requalify that, the Christian religious one. If she'd been Muslim it would still be a coin toss I think.

    Re: What annoyed you today?

Ade - do you remember me advising you a week or so ago now that perhaps you ought to give some thought to moving on to pastures new, to seek new adventures and to look for a job that possibly provides accommodation ? I was thinking along the lines of a tent in the middle of a field while counting sheep. Remember that? Working in a modern twentieth century environment just doesn't suit you, what with shelving being provided in the cool room that you just can't resist climbing and then subsequently falling off. Now we have the continued saga where you actually manage to bump your head in a fire door that has been propped open with a chair. Is there something that perhaps you're not telling us? How is it that you didn't fall over the chair first, or did you?

As for the rest - I blame veggie. Ever since he mentioned the word 'sue' you've suddenly taken a turn for the worse, smelling blood and feeling sick. You sound more like a pregnant vampire - have you checked the back of your hands for hair? I don't know about the 'I was fine last night bit' - I don't think you've ever been fine. I'm thinking of starting a partition and asking all forum members to chip in a few bob to buy you a swim ring that you can slip over your head and locate somewhere around the waist area. Then you'll be able to bump into things all day long safe in the knowledge that you'll simply bounce off. It will also afford some protection should you fall out of bed (or your hammock) so don't remove it at night. Big Smile [:D]

I've got an old First Aid manual knocking around somewhere - any good to you? Embarrassed [:$]

    Re: What annoyed you today?

I'd like to see you do my job without having to climb a shelving unit or two Stick out tongue [:P]

Unless your much much taller then me... But I like having an active job. As I think Ive already pointed out, I didnt do my head at work, and I didnt trip or fall, My balance is pretty much spot on, I jumped, cause I was being a prat.  I also dont injure myself that often, this has been the first time I've had to go to A&E in ages, and I'm probably one of the least injured people I work with (the other week someone broke there thumb by slamming it in a cage, and now theyre trying to sue..)

Oh, and last time I checked, it was lycanthropy i was suffering from, not vamparism.

Either way, I'm feeling pretty ok now, just tired. So now I need to grab a bite to eat and get back to work.

    Re: What annoyed you today?

Oooh - fire door wedged open by a chair, I can feel a burst of litigation coming on - that's a clear breach.

As for being reprimanded for leaving via a fire door - how on earth is one supposed to know whether an alarm is genuine or not! I was once part of a group that was (quite rightly) ticked off for queuing to go through the main door and not using the fire door during a drill (at the time we didn't know it was a drill).

What annoyed me - just going through my pictures of Goodwood. One of the candidates for shot of the day (looking at the thumbnail) - Subaru in the rally stage with all 4 wheels off the ground - car appears sharp with a small amount of motion blur on the wheels is corrupted in the original NEF file. I've tried using sandisk's rescue software on the card with no joy. I don't think I did anything wrong as its the middle shot of a group of 3 and the ones either side are fine.

    Re: What annoyed you today?

Why, when you put something very saleable on ebay at a very reasonable 'buy it now' price do you get emails after no more than half an hour asking if you'll take considerably less? Why would you not wait to try and get the full price and if it did'nt sell, re-list for free at a bit less? Huh? [:^)]

    Re: What annoyed you today?

Nothing annoyed me today surprisingly, been quite a nice day at work, and managed to get everything done with only half an hours overtime at the end.

FWIW, I wasnt moaning about the injury, yes it hurt, yes I felt ill yesterday, but It was entirely my fault for being a nonse. My original post was about the wait In which I had to endure because of it in A&E.

As you say, that indeed is a surprise - and without hurting yourself of anything else. Wow!!! I can't wait until you're a few years older and join us on the Old Gits thread - you'll fit in nicely. Big Smile [:D]

You've not only admitted being liable for your own injuries therebye wiping out any chance of getting compensation, but you've also increased the odds of being carted away by those men in white coats having admitted to being a nonse. I'm assuming of course you did mean to say nonse and not some other similar sounding word. Wink [;)]

    Re: What annoyed you today?

    Have I misspelt it?

Its not the kind of word that you write down very often, you know, interchangable with prat..

And I have no wish to try and claim compensation...then again that D700 does look quite nice....Wink [;)]

    Re: What annoyed you today?

Actually, I'm not sure if I was annoyed or dumbstruck when I read this in the Times today:

" It’s not too onerous an operation, shepherding the planes and helicopters into St Mary’s airport on the Scilly Isles. Never more than 120 flights a day in high season – largely comprising little Twin Otter aircraft, bouncing the 30 miles or so from Penzance. So we shouldn’t worry too much that its air traffic control centre, in adherence with equal opportunity guidelines, is sending out its latest job application forms in Braille. Have a safe flight, now. "

The rest of Rod Liddle's cloumn seems to fit in well here also:

Emigration is looking more attractive by the day Sad [:(]

    Cheers, Peter.

That appeared in the Mirror on Friday as follows:

Airport bosses were accused of political correctness gone mad after advertising for an air traffic controller - in BRAILLE. Bosses at St Mary's airport on the Scilly Isles say they are just honouring equal ops rules, despite stating that 20-20 vision is required. Big Smile [:D]

    Re: What annoyed you today?

I've checked to see if I'm eligible and I'm sorry to report that there's no way they'll offer me the job...

I can see perfectly well but my fingers are blind and illiterate (can't read braille) and when I tried to follow a braille sticker I'd taped to the washing machine (to get a feel for the air traffic control radar), I ended up with Repetitive Strain Injury in my wrist and index finger!

I'm off to sue St. Mary's Airport!
