I was in Broad Street, Birmingham city centre, taking photos of buildings and people, when I was approached by a Asian lad. He said he was security and I couldn't take pictures in Broad Street. I told him he was talking rubbish as it was a public place. He then said if I didn't stop he would call the police, and I told him to do so, and I would be just down the road taking pictures. He didn't have any security cloths on, but even if he did, I would have ignored him.

In fact I past a lot of police with the camera in clear view and they didn't say anything. I could have understood it more if I'd taken pictures of him and his mates, but even then I would have stood my ground. One wonders where they get this information from.

What's puzzled me today is that I replied to some thread started by Chris Seary, about "Fine art".

The thread's vanished. I'm convinced it has.

Normally I'd think "Y'dopey sod... you're not looking in the right area". But in this case, it's not showing in "Active topics" either. It's not even showing in the list of threads that you've replied to.

JD... you know of anyone who might've gotten a bit bored on the evening shift at DCM castle..?

I've just returned to see if the questions have been answered and there is no sign of the thread. What has happened to it?

Buying a new motherboard and 4 gig ram (it was a good deal) for a new machine I'm building, then realizing, I don't have a 64 bit OS to utilize all that ram. Not such a good deal afterall.

Riding into work this morning I nearly got….

1. taken out by a paper boy doing stunt jumps off the pavement without regard for anyone else
2. taken out by a woman letting her dog run al over the CYCLE PATH on one of those extender leads; she gave me a filthy look when I swerved to miss her bounding mutt.
3. taken out by a white van who’s driver was more interested in lighting a cigarette whilst holding her mobile phone between ear and shoulder; she must have been steering with her knee as I could clearly see both hands trying to work her lighter.
4. and finally taken out by a bloke in a mondeo estate who misjudged a turning so reversed straight back into the road to straighten up.

Not bad considering I only cycle about three miles and this all happened before seven am.

I have to buy a new motherboard this week too - my current one has serious issues, and there's a 70% chance I'll lose my current edit in Photoshop due to a blue screen of death. For some reason, the blur tool has the power to take my entire system down!

3GB is still better than 2GB

Yeah I was pleasantly surprised what a difference adding an extra 8GB to my desktop made. Lightroom, CS3 and Photomatix made it slow a little with 3GB. 11 seems to make it fly .

What saddened me today?

I had to say farewell to two of the guys at work, due to me leaving this Friday.

One of which was the guy who trained me up.

It's going to be hard on Friday... there's a roomful of people who've gotten to know a cantankerous, but knowledgeable, member of the generic desk...

WAMT - Two weeks of splitting migraines where i couldnt even see my hand in front of my face let alone anything through the view finder to finally get rid of them and end up on crutches due to overtraining with weekly physio for i dont know how long. Am not very co-ordinated on them either so dont know how i will manage my camera and the crutches without either falling over, hitting an unexpecting passerby or goddess forbid dropping my camera
