Interesting point Angela.  I think Wales would struggle on their own. I think Scotland would also struggle on their own.

Its funny how countires want independance, but also want to keep getting the handouts and have a say about what goes on in Enland/UK.

Indepenence should mean one thing and one thing only - Independance.

Re: Random thought of the day

I just want Scottish MPs to lose the right to vote on things that only apply to England and Wales - they vote for us to pay while the SMPs vote for things to be free in Scotland. That's just totally unfair...but of course Labour would never get a majority without Scots MPs......

The government are all for fighting poverty in other countries, but I think they should start closer to home.

They do say charity begins at homeSmile [:)]

    JD:
    Alan Ingham:
    THE PAY STAKES
    £175,000 - The prime minister
    £100,000 - GPs
    £75,000 - Hospital consultant
    £60,000 - University professor
    £57,000 - Backbench MP
    £35,000 - Plumber
    £32,000 - Train driver
    £28,500 - Journalist
    £26,000 - Nurse
    £12,000 - Hospital porter *

    * like me, you might think this figure to be disgraceful but would your feelings perhaps change if I, as Prime Minister, were to say that in order to provide these people with a decent income we shall need to raise Income Tax by 5p in the pound?

    Journalist? £28k?

    AAAAAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAaahahaaaa....

    Sad [:(]

The same website that once touted "Updated every minute every day"...? The same website that had a photo of "Tory Blair" wielding a Fender Telecaster, yet said he was playing a Stratocaster...? Hmm...

Well, the GDP would fall, youd have no power and no public services. Crime would suddenly increase due to the lack of police and alot will get screwed over. The next day GDP would sky rocket as people try to fix the damage that was caused.

Petrol at £5.50 gallon takes me 35 miles.

Beer at £20 a gallon takes me as far as the nearest loo.

    Mmmm.

If food is becoming more scarce, why are'nt we concentrating on making this country less reliant on imported food...instead of concreting over traditionally agriculturally rich counties like  the one I live in?

Er...don't we always have to eat? Down to the EU and it's Common Agricultural policy i assume. A country that can feed itself is surely more secure than one that relies on imports. Perhaps we need to get back to eating food when it's in season.

When all the food in the world has run out,all that will be left is cannibalism. Why not stay ahead of the trend, and open Britain's first cannibal restaurant? [They've probably had one in America for years!] now all we need is a name for it!Devil [6]
