You've completely missed the point of the discussion - this is not about 4/3 verus APS, it's about all small sensors - all 4/3 and APS size - versus 35mm and bigger sensors. The argument for 4/3 is that the system is based around light hitting the sensor at the optimum angle of 90 degrees, and so it may be just as good if not better than having a larger sensor where the rays it at diffeent angles.

Nope not missed the point.. just that my answer was to subtle.Wink [;)]

I'm guessing from the exif in your images you have been a Oly dslr user for about a month now, wait till you have been using them for a couple of years and try saying on most forums the sensor is prefrable to the APS sensor and wait for the usall barrage of this sensor is smaller than the APS and gives lower quality, all this from APS sensor owners.

My point was that these same people do not harp on about how inferior there sensor is to the full frame one ...and you will need a thick skin to be a Oly owner and a breed apart. ...me I love it as I have never been one to be part of the herd Wink [;)]

    It's good to debate!

My point re top wildlife [etc.] photographers was just to point out that Canon and Nikon are, at the present moment, the only mainstream manufacturers to offer a very expensive high spec, very fast etc.etc. model to suit the needs and pockets of those pro shooters.8-|]

It really only depends on the lenses and unfortunately Olympus don't make a fast telephoto lens to match the Sigma & Canon.

By fast are you refering to aperture or af? I don't know the Sigma and Canikon range, but this is what BH Photovideo say of the Olympus 300mm f/2.8 ED Lens which as we all know is 600mm equivalent:

"This incredible super telephoto lens combines the world's most precise optics with an impressive compact size and weight for the ultimate in performance and portability. This Zuiko Digital Lens use a precision aluminum alloy lens barrel and is half the size of its 600mm 35mm equivalent so it's easy to carry and use. With 3 ED glass elements for unsurpassed image color and clarity, the 300mm f2.8 is ideal for shooting sports, wildlife and fashion. The fast f2.8 aperture allows the photographer the ability to shoot even in poor lighting conditions. Focus response is quick and precise and can be limited to close or far ranges as well as the full lens range."

\What they omitted was that it is also bloody expensiveBig Smile [:D]

Not thick skinned but just confident that I'm right and they're wrong!  I switched from a Canon because I didn't enjoy using it, or the results.  Glad you mentioned EXIF because none of my programs seems to recognize ORF data - bit of a pain really.  Indifferent [:|]

Download this free little program and you will be able to read the exif in any Jpeg images (even the web) if it is there.  Smile [:)]

    Re: Olympus Users

I've seen results from that 300mm f2.8 and they've been pretty impressive - and of course there's a new 2x converter that will add a whole new dimension to it. What they always lacked was a slower, more affordable longer telephoto. One big plus for those with the eyesight and ability to use manual focus is being able to use lenses of almost all fittings with an adaptor. At least you keep metering unlike other brands.

Taking time to sort out a whole load of folders of photos taken earlier in the year. I tend to take out the ones i like most at the time and play around with them amd leave the other, non blurry, ones to go back to and either process or delete later. Now, I know the weather was with me in late summer, but those last E-510 shots look really good! OK, I admit the 40D ones taken in the same conditions also look good!
