    Iceland.

A country where 80% of the people believe in elves.

But the government doesn't believe that a "cast iron" guarantee is anything to bother about.

    Cheers guys.
Kidography. It's like photography. But more fun.

That's basically in line with my beliefs about sporting trivia...why is it important and why should we care? Now important aspects of life like: "can I afford the mortgage if the interest rate goes up by a percentage point" are something we should spend a bit more time assessing and learning, rather than who scored the winning goal in the 1927 FA cup final between acrington stanley and east bromwich wednesday...

In today's world, it's not so much religion being the opiate of the masses as sports.

    Sigh.

It's not so much the FT100, as the French...always deconstructive criticism. I'm forming the opinion that the only way they ever had a military victory was by wearing the other side down in the surrender negotiations (when they were surrendering) by just being argumentative and not accepting reality.

Anyway, this is the annoyed thread...don't I get to have a go! Stick out tongue [:P]

    Re: What annoyed you today?

It's not so much football itself, it's more the over hyping of a sport that involves nothing more than kicking a ball into a goal. Fun to watch, fun to play but that's it. The way who is going to be manager of some team has top spot in a sports report and is discussed endlessly leaving 10 seconds to report a British team or competitor in another sport has become world champion. And of course the stupid amounts of money paid to top footballers - fine if the clubs were'nt millions in debt - a normal business would have been bankrupt years ago.
Grass roots football great - the place we were at last night does sterling work with lots of local youngsters - I'm all for that.

Now if you want a thread to vie for "the longest thread" accolade let's start on the French and their interminable meetings. I worked for them for 40 years and during the last ten of those I must have spent 80% of the time in meetings. I built up enough air miles on the Paris run to fly round the world Club Class if I'd wanted to!

The amazing thing was I don't ever remember a meeting that ended with a plan, a decision or a result of any kind. The fine art of *** covering was honed and tuned to perfection. Have they signed the Treaty of Versailles yet? Wink [;)]

I love it how if you quote someone whos been censored you can see what they said before it was censored...or should I be keeping that to myself...

    Re: What annoyed you today?

i just found out that the government froze the Icelandic banks Uk assets using anti terrorism laws,

makes quite a mockery out of

"oh we only use these laws in genuine terrorist emergencies"

the 42 day lock em up and throw away the key law is being debated at the mo, roll it on, i presume that all innuits are pesky terrorists ? Big Smile [:D]

whatever next , use the anti terrorism laws to lock OAP hecklers ? oh sorry thats already been done, cheers nomad

ps one of the lords reading the new 42 day rule thinks it might bring about a big brother state,

we are already there, wake up and smell the coffee,
