....not at work today....decided to clean the front windows and was out in the garden when my neighbour came home from work in her van.....she saw me and did'nt block my drive, there's more than enough room not to......she went in ....I went in........I looked out of my window ten mintes later and she'd been out and reversed it right across my drive........I'm starting to get a twitch......there is no *&"£$! reason for them to do it. They did it to the last owner of my house and it ended up at the solicitors......I just can't get my head around people like that...are they just terminally ignorant? I asked so politely not to do it and she said she would'nt...that lasted about 3 days......what do I do?

Get a stinger or put nails downStick out tongue [:P]

If someone in your household is disabled then you can get a box put outside your house, although did you say you don't drive or have a car or something? even so taxis and such could park there if you need to get around, anywho...

See what the result was of the solicitors and if anything is in violation, report it or catch it up and such.

    Re: What annoyed you today?

The person who lived here before was disabled and there is still a white line outside and a disabled sign [the authorities will remove it when they get round to it I've been told]. The result at the solicitors was that my neighbour was warned about it, and other things he'd been doing, and agreed to stop. I was told there had been no further trouble for the two years between the agreement and the previous owner of my house dying. For the first 12 months I was here I thought it must have been the man who lived in my house being overly petty because I had no problem...now I'm starting to sympathise with him! I don't have a car but they seem to think I should'nt have visitors - it's called consideration - and I believe also part of the highway code that you don't block vehicle access/driveways. I get a grocery delivery each week and it makes it harder for the driver to get my stuff in....my sister calls in on saturday mornings -onloy for a few minutes but that's not the point. When we go to a show at the weekends and have things to put in my mates pick up we have to carry it out to the middle of the road. I don't usually bother about things like this but I think it's their sheer ignorance that's getting to me!!

As I thought, one of the places the highway code says you should'nt park is over the access to a property...mind you it also says you should'nt park on the path.......

Driving around trying to avoid trouble! The police are the ones who should stop people blocking pavements by parking on them but they just drive on by - no interest at all. This is such a stupid thing to get worked up about, I'm usually live and let live, but I just get the feeling they think they can treat me with contempt and that's whats really annoying me. It was the way she went back out to move her van across my drive after I'd gone inside that really got to me today.

    Re: What annoyed you today?

Have you not complained to them? Police aren't mind readers, if you don't tell them there's an issue they'll assume it's by mutual agreement. I have more cars in my family than driveway to park them in so there are all kinds of occasions when a car is parked across my drive. I'd be some ticked if they just came by willy nilly and ticketed me for parking in front of my own house.

    Re: What annoyed you today?

I don't think I'd regard it as a police issue. It's strictly speaking against the highway code to block a driveway but in the general run of things it's not really something you'd get the police involved with. As i said, it's more a matter of consideration for others - I asked so politely if they'd mind not doing it - they have a drive of their own which they could use and always used to. They suddenly decided,as they also have a caravan on their drive, they might as well park outside my house - the road is a cul de sac and curves round where my place is - this means there's very little parking space that does'nt block somebody's drive - they could of course park across their own £"$%(* drive!!

    Re: What annoyed you today?

Sue, you're getting mad about them and their behaviour.  That's how they get their pleasure.

Don't get mad, get even.  Wait until the wind is blowing in their direction, their windows are open and doors are open and light a fire with green wood and rubber.  As I say, a matchstick breaks in two pieces and they only carry one spare, but I wouldn't recommend that, it's a crime.

Check your house deeds and see if there is a clause in it that says you can't keep a caravan on the driveway or a council bye-law which is the same.  If there is any damage to the footpath, take a photo of their van parked on it.  If you have a delivery and the van is there, call the police.  It's an unnecessary obstruction and should be dealt with by them.

Basically, CHILL!, it's only a bloody van, but even though it's a pain in the backside, you could become their piles.

    Re: What annoyed you today?

Yes, I know it's silly to get so annoyed about such a trivial thing but it's more what it says about their attitude towards me and these things escalate. I suppose the best thing would be to take a look at my house deeds because that's where the letters are about the dispute they had with the previous owner of my house. Unfortunately we don't have much in the way of spare cars at work at the moment or i'd borrow something to put on my drive for a while. Bloody people!!
