Conspiracy theories apart, he's as bent as a nine bob note.

Nobody understands that quote now! It should be a 45p note! Wink [;)]

I love the way the government are congratulating themselves on how well GB is doing and he's getting us all out of the mess we're in. As if we're all stupid enough to forget he was the one who presided over it all. They were quite scathing about how long it took him to do anything on this mornings money programme. Still, judging by the comments on the Guardian website about articles written saying how well Labour are now doing, we're not as forgiving and thick as they think we are - a week is a long time in politics and there's a lot of weeks between now and the next election.

My favourite comment was about Mandy - "of course he's not a divisive figure - everybody hates him"!

Yes I know. More time for David Cameron to give more of his finger down the throat, sparmy, nauseating speeches. I'm not a GB lover at all, but Cameron makes me wince...

Yay - I now have an ancient, but Taxed, MOTd and insured, car parked across my driveway - I'm a bit annoyed that I won't be here when my neighbour gets home to see it! Actually, my solicitor friend has informed me that it's unwise to let people do things like block the access to your property without doing something about it - if you let it go on for long enough they can acquire certain rights.....apparantly there was a certain case involving a loo...and it was an indoor one too!!

After two weeks of planning and organising a donation staion for cancer research in college......only five people turned up!!!!!

extremly annoyed. It wasnt like we wanted money just a few bits and bobs which they didnt want/use anymore.

I put posters up everywhere, a notice on the college website and magazine, and gave hundreds of bags out!

I know how you feel, Sue, but I think the real culprits may get away with it again if we just focus on whoever is in power.

You can blame politicians, but the economic problems are the same the world over. We've had Labour in power here for the last decade, while in the US they've had the dumbest right wing lunatic as president (doesn't he even make Reagan seem rational and likeable?). Both economies are in the same place, and without a paddle, regardless of the leadership.

All this blaming the politicians lets the bankers get away with it - again! The centres of money in the world have more control over our future than our governments. Roughly every 17 years (1974, 1991, 2008), they end up flushing the world's economies down the toilet through bad lending, mainly on property. Each time it gets worse.

I guarantee you that in 12 years time bankers will again start saying 'property never goes down in price' and start hurling money at anything that has a roof, door and windows, causing another speculative boom and bust.

I dare say we'll get the money, or a good portion, back that the government has put into the banks this week. Possibly make a profit.

But that's not what'll affect us. Right now, many people are paying off huge mortgages they took out when house prices were ridiculously overinflated. The houses have gone down in value, but the mortgage payments to the banks are the same. And there's less money/work around to pay it with. Same as in 1991. That's what'll hurt.

I'm also sad for young people starting out. It seems everyone has to have a degree at the moment, and they have to pay for it through the nose. In a year's time, that person in McDonald's wishing you a nice day will have a degree in underwater basket weaving and a twelve grand debt. Another victim of the collapse of the graduate employment market. And he/she will be earning minimum wage!

There's got to be a better way than this.....

    Re: What annoyed you today?

Well that may well be true, but as with everything else all the hoi polloi can do is stand back and watch while the fat cats of all descriptions continue to get the cream. Like the nauseating Mandelson  getting his 'entitlements'. Whatever pain we feel they certainly don't. It's the old heat and kitchen thing and if GB was happy to take the praise for his years of boom he must take the flak for the inevitable bust. I've heard plenty of experts recently saying this was predictable some time ago so perhaps we could have been better prepared. Instead we've watched a man totally unsuited to the role of pm suddenly being given the role of saviour when his advisors come up with a 'cunning plan'. So we're now going to forget his stealth taxes that have added to our tax burden year after year, the lies over Europe, the 10p tax debacle, 42 days, failure to tackle immigration etc. and the fact that despite all the previous PMs rhetoric about crime and education society just does'nt seem particularly better after 11 years of Labour. Oh, and the little thing about the gap between rich and poor getting ever wider. The really sad thing is that, although the opposition has got it's act together a bit more, we don't seem to have anyone at the top in politics of whatever party who has vision and charisma to inspire us all into action. In 1997 there really did seem to be the prospect of something new and better.  I suppose we should have known  you can't trust politicians - at least those at top .
Whoever wins the next election is on a hiding to nothing and it really will make little difference to the masses - but I still want this lot out - no party should be in power for too long.

It was ever thus and always will be. That's what living in a "market economy" means.

The Election results. We've elected another minority gov't and already they're talking about another election in a year. Waste of money, we're turning into Italy.

This is so true. That fourth election win is what turns political parties into criminals.

Dont blame the computer - blame the person who set it up - computers only do what we tell them to and if the programmer is U/S so is the computer....
