    Cathus:

Can't we just quote the line we're referring to if indeed a quote is required?

    Yes Big Smile [:D]

    David Bracher:

    hevans:
    - pendulum swinging without resistance - the travel from left to right is the mirror of the passage from right to left).

? A pendulum swinging without resistance wouldn't swing, it would go in a full circle.Big Smile [:D]

Depends on the velocity when it passes through the lowest point. It's still under the influence of gravity, and so it'll come to a halt when the energy of motion (0.5 mass *  velocity^2) at the lowest point in the trajectory is the same as the potential energy at the top of the swing ( 9.81 * distance). If the 0.5 mv^2 is greater than 9.81*2*pendulum length, then it'll continue over the top.

What I meant with the lack of resistance was that there was no energy loss due to friction/resistance. (and we all know that resistance is futile...).

Orgie...you've picked a tough one here. All the churches round here have tape recorded bells these days and digital clock workings....

I now have this image of a church clock with a huge digital display, instead of the traditional hands.

Hee Hee I know what you mean't...but you did say "without resistance". Gravity is a resistance....so without that...blah blah blah. Gosh being Pedantic can be such fun.Big Smile [:D]

Good luck to you...I've no idea. Looks like we're just going to have a load of 'inside of clocks shots'. Well I wanted a tighter subject.Big Smile [:D] Now I wish I had a macro lens. I was thinking sun dial hee hee but someone's bound to mention there's no mechanics.

     "administratium"

Big Smile [:D]Big Smile [:D]Big Smile [:D] Yes, at last I know the answer.

I'm convinced that, working at an educational institution, we are blessed with more than our fair share of this foul substance, which, as we are currently in budget negotiations, is increasing at a ridiculous rate...

All I need to know now hevans, is how do I destroy this evil matter?

I also thought of sundial, but that is going to be reliant on the weather, looks like it could be a lot of clock innards Big Smile [:D]

The sundial also has a point. and it's a pendulum that falls.
