thanks Pete  Smile [:)], in answer to questions you left in my gallery - it was taken about 5 minutes from home (no help i know !Wink [;)]) a tiny village roughly halfway between chambery and geneva - the mountains in the background are the alps (yep i'm only 40 minutes from the slopes Smile [:)]), it was taken at about half past 5, no flash - f/6.3  1/500 sec iso100. Thanks for the comment in my gallery.

Welcome Picture Perfect, and enjoy the competition - it's always nice to see new people joining in.

On another matter - I have just had a dummy run at setting up the poll for the competition - all seems to work well, and the instructions are good, but I see the problem with the drag and drop for people with embedded links in the photos they post! Hopefully there wont be tears on Sunday night Big Smile [:D]

That sounds like a good place to live. I assume it was 5.30pm and the sun was behind you?

    Hi Gill

Spent the last week in the Alps at Les Arc 1950. We drove from Geneva Airport. The villages we saw on the route were fantastic places to photograph, but the rest of the familly banned me from stopping to take any photo's before we got to the ski slopes.

We actually made a huge blunder on the way there. I put 'LES ARCS in the Vehicle GPS system and selected the only one that appeared. Almost five hours later we found ourselves in the OTHER Les Arcs. The one that is on the coast in the South of France near to Monacco, Which was 29 degrees with no visible mountains. That was a long day!

So...ummm....you won't be doing a shot of the GPS as it didn't get you from point A to point B Big Smile [:D].

Hmmm, also thinking that if you went to both Les Arcs...then that would explain the round trip! Big Smile [:D] snigger...geddit...2 arcs...round trip...snigger.

Reminds me of a trip to the Dordogne with my parents, my father drove us for 3 hours to see the Lot river...just to say "There's your Lot!" We weren't overly amused at the time.

The GPS thing actually said 'Take the next turn on the right, and drive 4 miles'

I thought it said 'Take the next turn on the right, and drive FOR miles' so I did!

    Oh how we laughed -NOT

You mean, my effort will look even more attrocious?

Which reminds me, isn't this one just another angle on "Mode of travel"?
