I have:

Minolta AF 35-70mm

Minolta AF 70-210mm f4.5-5.6

Minolta AF 50mm f1.4

Olympus 35mm f3.5 Macro

Olympus 14-55 f2.8-3.5

Olympus 40-150mm f3.5-4.5

Nikon 105 f2.8 Macro

Nikon 17-55 f2.8

Nikon 80-200 f2.8

I don't use the Minolta anyomre and shall be selling the Olympus.  I'd like the Sigma 10-20mm for sure, and possibly a Sigm 300mm f2.8.  And a 2x TC.

I only have 1 lens as i have just changed to a Canon system.

24-105 f/4 L IS

suits me down to the ground, hardly ever use the longerend of the range (only ever for details) and it goes nice and wide without distortion or barrelling.

Well, surprise surprise, the smaller lens are used when I wish to travel light with a smaller bag, which just takes a camera and two or three lenses. If I was to sell any I wouldn't get much money for them so might as well keep.

Good question! The only one that gets used less, in my case, is the 60mm macro - because it only fits the 350D - so has become a specialist lens- although my wife and kids use it a fair bit.

All my other lenses were bought for particular reasons:

17-40 - landscapes and industrial (I take a lot of shots for work with this one)
24-105 - general use and landscapes
70-200 - Motorsport, wildlife portraits
400 - Wildlife, motorport, sports in general
50 - low light, portraits
85 - Portraits, bands, lowlight.

I bought a Canon 17-40L f4 when I first moved onto the Canon system with a 20d when they first came out. (had to wait a month on a list! and paid full price.) I used that exclusively until lasy year when I spalshed out on a Sigma 70-200f2.8. The 17/40 lived on the camera, only switching to the zoom as needed. Bought a 5d t'other month. Now the Sigma stays on. Great all rounder with the full frame. Saving the 17-40 for the wideangle landscapes. Oh and of course, I have a Canon 50mm f1.8. (who doesnt??)

I hanker after a really good macro lens, and a 2x extender is on the waiting list.

Can thoroughly recommend the Canon 2x. I tried a cheaper 2x on my 200mmF2.8 just to see if it was a viable option rather than getting a longerprime or zoom - OK results but not brilliant. Got a canon 2x a couple of weeks ago and it's made the want of a longer lens go away.
