Photography or Art, the Creative Vision section is amazingly creative.

    Re: [Discussion] Creative Vision

Well this image received some good comments from the forum and it is my favourite photograph to date, so I decided to enter it in the creative vision category, and also the portrait.

There are some great entries though and the competition is tough!

Tough it may be - but that is one brilliant composition.

Many thanks for your vote and comment, it is appreciated.  I would say that this is my very best image, so even if it doesn't get the recognition of the judges or the DCM team, I'm happy with it Smile [:)]

'If a picture paints a thousand words' - Well I guess every viewer will reflect a few thoughts of their own, while appreciating your craft.

As a newbie, I'm still rattling thoughts to come up with a good composition, and you have made it even harder for me - Well done

    Andy

    Re: [Discussion] Creative Vision

As a relative newbie to digital photography I am constantly amazed at the possibilities of digital editing. My latest entry in the 'Creative Vision' section reminds me of a horticultural drawing 'of old,' and I am thrilled to bits with it. But then, I tend to be thrilled to bits with every new 'discovery' I make in the digital studio and often find that I later cannot imagine why I was so excited! I wonder if this picture has lasting attraction.

    Any comments very welcome!

Andy - I'm new to portraits but am realising that the details make all of the difference.  What you include is obviously as important as what you leave out, but I've always tended to work with what was there and include/exclude based on that.  I'm now learning how to "build" a scene.

Hi Reinardina, I like your image and think it could do with just a bit tighter crop so that it fills the frame more.  That's just my opinion though, it probably wouldn't need it if printed and framed.

I was always told that you are paying for the film and the paper so you may as well use it all!  I know with digital it's not applicable in terms of cost, but I do try and fill the frame as much as possible.  And doing this in camera helps you get the best out of every pixel.  Rather than cropping in image later and discarding say 20% of you pixels.  We spend so much on high mega pixel cameras then throw them away at the click of a button on the computer!
