    Cheers for that Paul.

I'm ordering it later this week and am looking forward to using it to try and get some wildlife up here in the Highlands.

    Re: Olympus Users

has anyone got a E-3 yet?? I am seriously considering getting one, to upgrade my seriously aging E-1. still a bloody good camera, but if the E-3 is better than the D-300 then surely its got to be pretty damn good.
any thought and recommendations about the E-3 would be much appreciated
    Cheers Edd

ededo as your into landscapes  apart from the higher pixal count I don't think all the other improvements such as AF and IS are going to make your images any better. Wink [;)]

    Re: Olympus Users

oh right, well for me the pixel count is a pretty good thing, means more detail, which is pretty vital in landscape photography. Well i like everything about the E-1, so if the E-3 is pretty much the same apart from the new features and different layout i think ill do just fine with one of those!!!

I was just wondering can anyone recommend a Cheap flash for my E500 , I do not want to spend masses of Money as 80% of my photography would be natural light

    Re: Olympus Users

Argghh, I've written this twice now and it won't post.  So here's a short version to try again, sorry it's blunt but I'm not sure if it will post.

I've got some catching-up to do having returned from another trip and finding the E-3 and new kit available.

Q1) Will the new lenses and flash system work with the E-1?

Q2) My 14-45 lense has broken again, it does get a rough ride as my work-horse, so I'm wondering if the 14-54 would be a better replacement.  It would be nice to have the slightly faster lense too.

Q3) I'm after a wildlife lense for woodland etc, so the new 70-300 won't be fast enough for me I don't think.  Would I be better off going for the ED50-200mm f2.8-3.5?  And how much faster do you think the SWD version will be?

Q4) I could go for the above wildlife option, or perhaps the 150mm f2 with a teleconvertor might be better, giving me a very fast 150mm and a pretty quick (f2.8?) 300mm?

Thanks all, hope this posts this time!!!

    Re: Olympus Users

I would assume any new lens would fit any Olympus DSLR. Had'nt occurred to me they might not. I swapped my 14-45 for a 14-54 and it's certainly a much better lens both build wise, especially for outdoor stuff, and optically. I'd put the short zooms in order optically - 1.14-54, 2. 14-42, 3. 14-45. I know a lot of people use the 1.4x with the 50-200 - trying to work out the conversion does'nt it give you f4/5-6? a 2x on an f2.8 gives you f5.6???? Probably wrong!

    Re: Olympus Users

Hi Pete, I think that it would have to be the FL-36 from Olympus.  I have seen them at £120 on Ebay (new).

Having shopped around for a flash recently, as far as I am aware there are no third party flashes available, and the FL-50 is twice the price.

Sue - Thanks for that, I was considering the 12-60mm SWD but it's quite a bit more expensive, and quite a lot heavier, so I wouldn't wan't it as my everyday walk about lense.  As for the conversion, I obviously have no idea!  Hopefully it can be explained...

OK, you have a choice of the following:

Sigma EF500 ST DG at £99.

    Metz 36 C-2 at £47

    Metz 20 C 2 at £30.

    The cheapest Olympus is £150.

    Sunpak PF30 X is £75.

Thanks for that OldBoy, I was mis-informed.  I shall check the specs of those that you suggest and see how they compare, but on first glance the Sigma seems a good bet.

Nice, the 70-200 f2.8 looks great.  It's only £659 for Nikon and Cannon mounts...
