    Doh.... forgot......

Anybody got any good suggestions for a decent compact/bridge camera? Seriously, I may even consider one of them unmentionable things!

Canon G9 I take it everywhere Barry. Lives up to all its reviews. Lowest price I've seen at this time £245.00

    Barry,

If you want to go quality but compact, the Fuji F100fd is pretty spiffy.  My daughter has one & is very pleased with it.  12MP, 5x zoom incl. 28mm equivalent at the wide end, good high ISO performance.  About the only negative is no optical viewfinder, but Canon are about the only ones that have continued with that.

The Panasonic FZ 50 is excellent at £275.  IS lens, 1600 ISO, 10 mp, 12 x zoom and shoots RAW.
18 x zoom if you drop quality to 5mp.
It also feels like a camera should and handles well.

Re: owner of the longest thread?

Yup! Just a few more weeks - four actually. Looking forward to scenery, scenery and more scenery. Not looking forward to Stansted or the flight from UK. Am looking forward to the onward flight from Reykjavik on day 2 - it is spectacular (allegedley). Twenty two hours of daylight each day will seem strange! Definitely not looking forward to the flight home, the drive back from Stansted and leaving my boys. They are going to stop with the lady who bred them for the duration.

I'm thinking of getting a Manfrotto 190cx pro3 for the trip - anybody got any input on that one?

Well, it was only the optics I was getting suckered into.... LoL

I got the Panasonic FX18 in the end. I must say I'm well pleased with it. It does what I expected of it --- with gusto!

Enjoy your hols Mart... Thanks everyone for their suggestions.
