ABERS, as usual your street work is excellent.

I had to smile when I viewed this because the look on the ladies face is priceless. I am not sure she will like it. In some ways I think for the subject (assuming it is a protest demo) a sombre face may have worked well, but as a Portrait or a documented image it is superb.

Hi Bill - I actually prefer your manipulated b/w version from the same shoot. In this one, the eyes don't seem very sharp; not sure whether that's because of focussing or I suspect a bit of motion blur. Also, on the other one, the smile seems a bit more natural. I also like the subtle colour popping.

Here's one from me, to keep the thread going:

Hi Bill - you're right! Not much! The problem I have now is that because she's had a camera thrust in her face since birth, she's now become a little poser...and puts on a big grin, sometimes shouting 'cheeeese'. Not exactly natural - that's why I like this early shot of her. She's normally so happy and smiley, this captures her obviously deep in thought:

    Pensive

Just wish I had some more willing models!

Hi Bill, You don't have to remove it...but you can 'edit' it if you want. Click edit then select your shot and delete it and add a smaller version.

Re: Portrait thread - post yours here ...

    Hi Bill

I shot this in our conservatory, which has a white polycarbonate roof, so it acts like a big softbox. I used a white sheet for the background and bounced the flash (420EX). Not sure if the EXIF data gives aperture etc - but I would have tried to achieve a shutter speed of at least 1/60th (she wouldn't keep still) and an aperture of around f8.

I still had to tweak the levels and do some adjusting of the 'white' background, as it still came out grey (hence the grey bits round her hair, but I think it looks like a shadow so wasn't too worried). I also dodged the eyes a bit to make them sparkle.

I've always found it a bit of a problem getting white backgrounds, even in a white light tent. They always come out grey... Tips welcome Wink [;)]
