Chat for the Weekend Competition 20-21st January 2007

If we're not all repairing our houses from wind damage this weekend hopefully we'll have some good shots. Good luck.

As you don't get low light in your neck of the woods, you could use a light, to project a subject onto a white wall, and photograph that, so only the image on the wall, is photographed. Hope this helps. Big Smile [:D]

Re: Chat for the Weekend Competition 20-21st January 2007

just sharing a thought, if eg your in a shaded place with a view out, like a stutue under a willow tree, if you get the sky or an area in the sun, you'll get a silhouette if you meter for the sky/area in the sun, this should work in cloudy conditions, or even a tunnel, here's a past winner Big Smile [:D] for some inspiration (hopefully)

Sorry if thats all very obvious, thought I'd mention it just in case Wink [;)]

here's another, hope you dont mind David :)

Agree to a point OB, but here is a quote from Ming Bracher after he posted this weeks subject

"I feel that shadows could be a subject on there own sometime. They'd just come over as an easy scapegoat for people who don't want to actually work out a silhouette. I've done the easy one before with glass....so maybe this time I'll go with something a little more thought provoking, with a slight learning curve like Orgie did with doors in B/W. We might get less people but it could be fun for those who enter. It's not like we're running out of weekends."

    Hence my confusion

All I was trying to do was help people who haven't got the low sun, like we have over here. A shadow is a silhouette, and if photographed correctly, it would be hard to tell the difference. Big Smile [:D]
