Re: The HDR Tips and Tricks Thread.
I think I'm just gonna keep naggin' my mum to buy me a Samsung SM245b. When HDR monitors are the norm, I'll get one, but until then, I'd rather buy a new camera. And house, maybe a car too. cause I aint payin' thousands for a monitor. Personally I think new sensor technology, such as Kodaks new sensor, the Foveon X3 direct image sensor, used in Sigmas DSLRs, and Fujifilm Super CCD SR, with its increased DR response, will be the next step in HDR technology, as they're more easily applied then a multiple thousand pound monitor.

Re: The HDR Tips and Tricks Thread.
Here's my first real attempt. Taken with a Fujifilm S5 Pro and it's one RAW image (I know, I know)

mattharrisuk:Just a quicky from me.
Nice stuff - distortion from tilting the lens on the window looks a bit odd though...
Be4ch - nice pic. I can't hep thinking this is one that would do better without HDR though. There's so much stuff in it that your eye kind of wanders rounds and, erm, almost misses the gorilla....
Kidography. It's like photography. But more fun.

I've got a non HDR one here although with the fuji sensor there's not an awful lot of difference. It's a bit darker but that's about it. I kind of like you almost missed the gorilla.

Hmm. My S5 is all boxed up and ready to go to its new owner. And I'm regretting it already....
Anyway, quick snap from me - I was supposed to be editing a client's work but when light is like it was this morning I'm pretty sure there's a law against sitting at your desk.
ETA: ooo that came out kind of tiny - bigger on Flickr

You have to tonemap the .HDR file in Photomatix, to make it viewable on a standard screen. Experiment with the tonemapper in Photomatix. Then save it as a 16bit TIF, tweak it in Photoshop, then save is as a jpg file. And thats a great shot Jonathan. You like 'em in the early mornin' dont ya?

Have you mixed them down to a jpeg? AFAIK the forum only accepts jpegs.

Re: The HDR Tips and Tricks Thread.
mattharrisuk:My Tip of the Day:
Go to the Photomatix homepage, www.hdrsoft.com
and get the BETA 11 version of V3. Its lightning fast, making it much easier to get through huge amount, like I have to....
Another beta version? I'm running beta10 which knocks the spots off the earlier versions... I'll go and have a look now I think! ![Smile [:)]](/emoticons/emotion-1.gif)
Cheers Matt.
