I love the waterfall shot Gil, the framing given from the trees gives it a nice moody feel. And that spice stall pic is great Daisie, nice and vibrant. Heres a new one from me. Stickin' with the water and warm tones. Hope you like it. Cheers, Matt.

Matt that's really cool. I love the contrast between the sharp sky and the soft flowing water.
Here's one from my garden at the weekend.

This is an absolutely superb photograph Matt - I liked the one that made POTD recently - but this one is head and shoulders above it and most other images I have seen lately - you have handled the HDR compilation so well - keep pushing back those restrictive boundaries of conventional photography with such fine experimentation young man - the results can be so innovative and unique and so worthwhile - maybe - just maybe us old dinosaurs will drag ourselves into the 21st century too - wonderful work. ![Beer [B]](/emoticons/emotion-22.gif)

Thank you mate. That means alot to me, it truely does. I'm glad you can understand what I'm trying to do with my work. I really appreciate it. I'm sort of speachless to be honest. And cheers to everyone else thats commented my work and looked at it, I appreciate it. Heres a couple of pieces I shot on Sunday at the beach, minutes before the heavens opened dramaticly. The weather was terrible, so I just tried to make the most of what I had. I hope you like them. & Cheers, Matt.

Re: Post your best here...
blandfordp:Matt,
So many HDR shots lack contrast. Yours are the opposite, I really like them. What method do you use for HDR? Photomatix or PS, one RAW or more?
Thank you mate. I use Photomatix Pro, merged from normally 7-9 bracketed RAW files straight from my D200. Main reason I bought the camera was its 9 shot bracket feature. Merge the RAW's into a .HDR or .EXR file and tonemap the HDR composite in Photomatix, save it as a 16bit TIF and balace the levels and boost the contrast in CS3. Sometimes a few more minor adjustments like colour cast removal and white neutralization with Nik Filters on account of not so neutral ND filters. Its pretty time consuming and takes alot of PC memory and HDD space, but I think its worth it in the end. Matt.

Matt.
Just had a look through your gallery...impressive!!. I do wonder though why you use a ND grad filter at all? As you'll surely have the right exposures for the sky etc in one of the 7 taken.

When I go out to shoot, granted, most of my work is HDr stuff now, but I do still the normal way aswell, so I line it up with the ND grads and the normal landscape gear, and take shots that way, and check the histogram to see when I'm gettin' the right exposure all over, then if I'm still not happy or if I think it will suit it, I'll shoot a HDR sequence, normally between 5 and 9 shots, so I can make a HDR composite of it. I just like to experiment with it really. Plus using a ND filter with HDR can give really moody, dramatic skys in my experience. Matt.
