MPs vote to keep their expenses. What a surprise!! I assume we're meant to be grateful they voted for an under inflation pay rise [whatever the true rate of inflation is].

And thirty government ministers voted for that!!! Super Angry [8o|]

Naturally - they need to get as much as they can before they lose their seats at the next election!

The expenses are not taxable...the salaries are. Which would you rather keep? Hmm [^o)]

Many years ago when I got my first expense account, my guv'nor pulled me to one side and whispered a remark that has always stuck in my mind. "Lad", he said,"never forget expenses are for milking, not pulling the t*ts off". Perhaps we should have that advice enshrined in Hansard.

Perhaps we should monitor ebay for new TV's, Kitchens, rugs and other things on the John Lewis list that may be on sale! Sad [:(]

Re: The grumpy old gits thread

I'm worried. I haven't felt the slightest bit grumpy today , do you think I could be mellowing with old age? The sun's been shining nearly all day although the weather forecast promised rain.

I went to do the weekly shop with the Missus, and the bloke behind the cheese counter managed to translate half a pound into grammes  without that blank look that they give you when you ask for half a pound; and the girl on the checkout didn't seem at all perplexed when my wife gave her the odd twenty seven pence and six tenners for a £58.27 bill. They usually look at you as though you really shouldn't be let out without your carer when you try and be helpful like that.

The only fly in the oitment was when we were waiting to get out of the car park, one of these 4X4's backed out straight into the side of me. The young lady driver jumped out and called out "What happened?" Without the slightest trace of grumpiness I said "You appear to have backed into the side of my car my dear". She then went on to harangue me for being over familiar and patronising. In order to rectify the situation I said "Sorry  I'll take that back, you appear to have backed into my car you stupid clumsy cow and your rear bumper is in a terrible state having collided with my rather angular and vicious looking alloy wheel. Goodbye."

    I think I am mellowing.Indifferent [:|]

'My dear'.....you really know how to be offensive don't youTongue Tied [:S]

I feel decidedly grumpy today. Grey weather and gathering even greyer clouds - wonder if it might clear a bit before noon when I'm off to try and shoot some agility...hmm, probably be pouring by now...never mind, going again tomorrow....forecast ....rain followed by er...rain....
Just back from morning walk, camera free for a change as there did'nt seem much point. Started badly taking longer than usual to walk off stiff back. I realised something looked a bit different - the rather expensive looking kissing gate at the start of the footpath had disappeared - the fence was broken a long time ago. A hundred yards along I spotted it in the middle of the river along with various other bits of fence post, corrugated iron sheets etc. - wow what fun they must have had yesterday - what an exciting and daring thing to do! Just happy to see the two remaing ducklings still alive and well - you always worry with idiot people about to add to the natural predators they face.

Ah well...thing can only get better.....torrential rain now pounding on my conservatory roof...perhaps it's a clearing up showerHuh? [:^)]

Re: The grumpy old gits thread

A vintage day yesterday for shouting at the radio - listening to government ministers trying to waffle their way out of the road tax debacle. I really have come to the conclusion that they're trying to lose the next election because they know what sort of a state the country will be in by then. One bright spark came up with the idea that they need a way to help those with cars which will have the highest increases to trade them in for 'greener' models .....helloooo....just who is going to take them as trade ins and just who is going to buy them? And listening to Angela Eagle trying to make out Gordon Brown did'nt say most drivers would be better off...........Angry [:@]Angry [:@]Devil [6]

Re: The grumpy old gits thread

Today whilst out taking photos, I found a bunch of car keys on the ground, just past the farm and visitor centre. So, like a good boy pick them up and handed them in at reception. On the way back saw a old man and middle age chap and overheard them talking about losing something. Asked the old man what he lost, and he answered some car keys. Asked what type of car and he answered Laguna. I them told him I had just handed them into reception and he replied, "I don't believe you", and walked past me.

I stood there for a few seconds dumbstruck. I shouted to the younger man and told him and where I'd found them, and he patted me on the back and said thanks, and said to the older man they are in reception. The older man walked past me and didn't even say thanks. Surprise [:O]
