I know there are a lot of keen twitchers out there so thought I'd post this pic of a Grouse taken yesterday . 

I saw the head as a spec hiding on the moors and everytime I walked towards it I lost it.  Anyway, after stalking for a while (crouched behind anything I could find!) he made me jump out of my skin by flying straight up in front of me.  I had no idea he was there, I couldn't see him even though I must have nearly stood on him.  Taken at 200mm you get an idea of just how close I was ! 

I'd prefer a longer lens but it just goes to show what can be achieved with a bit of patience (and how bloomin quick the D300 is at focusing).
