Carcking Shots old boy, what kind of lens do you use to get that close, as if i try that they always fly away before i can release the trigger

Thanks for the comments Craig and Surfershark. I used my Nikon 105mm F2.8 VR macro lens which allows me to get close and shoot in less than a second.

Thanks Stephen... I'm having a lot of fun with that 105mm lens but getting the DOF right on some of these shots is a nightmare!

The closer you get with the 105mm macro the less DOF you have. As you can crop the image to get closer, you can move back, when taking the shot to improve the DOF. It still a cracking shot, with a nice frame of the outer leaves of the flower.

Great shots everyone, I'm still trying to get to grips with my new(ish) lens, partly because of the gale force winds and partly due to non stop thunderstorms, I did manage this last week between storms.
