Re: The grumpy old gits thread......

I'm only 20 but I feel and act alot older, just cause of my up bringing.
My grandparents helped raise me, so I love the things they do.
So I get along better with older people.
Like my latest friend, Ted. He's in his 70's, loves fishing, like me, and was a member of our local photographic society.
I got sod all work done that evening cause I spent half the time sitting there talking to him about the Olympus OM series cameras and how digitals changed things.
I couldnt do that with people my age.
Normally cause they ask me what to buy, and I have a go at them.

    Plus.
I have a beard, which instantly makes me 7x as mature.

    SusanHocking:

Well, I must admit, I feel like a grumpy git sometimes too, and only 26, and yes, sometimes the 'younger' generations can be irritating...but YOU WERE ALL YOUNG ONCE TOO and I bet you were all just as irritating to the older generation back then too, just in different ways. So, I say give them a break...I don't see them in this forum whinging about all you old farts...in fact, I see them here on this forum trying to learn something from you. I think they deserve some kind of credit for that at least.

You know ...shes alright Big Smile [:D]

Re: The grumpy old gits thread......

Don't get me wrong, I think older people are a great source of wisdom and experience, and I think 'young' people could certainly learn a lot from them, but I also think that sometimes 'old' people need to learn to not take a young person at face value...for ages  (and sometimes still) I have had an issue talking to people because I think they look scarey, or I think they look like they won't want to talk to me or whatever, but then I get the courage to and find that my perception of them was completely different to what is real. Same goes for age I guess, is this making sense? Probably not, but anyway, my point is, I think you get my point.

Ok, you want a real whinge, here goes then...

I HATE it when people get stupid on the roads, I especially hate it when people think they OWN the road (and i know that they don't because my husband works for the people that do own the road), and I especially hate it when people cut me off and drive stupidly when I have my 2.5 year old in the car! Now that makes me MAD!

Ok, here's another, I hate it when people I don't know and have never met (say at the supermarket) try and tell me how to raise my child...especially when they have no children of their own...that just tick me off!

Re: The grumpy old gits thread......

I thinking spending large amounts of money on drink is just ridiculous...it actually makes me really sad to be honest...and borrowing money, I hate borrowing money...it is too scarey for me...I think you should have a legitimate reason for getting a personal loan.

And Craig, you are right, it isn't every young person that does that...unfortunately it is the minority of idiots that give young people a bad name...so sad.

Re: The grumpy old gits thread......

Nah, Im happy to let you old gits have your fun and complain about us.

My spelling is aweful, but you havent seen my handwriting Big Smile [:D]

Im worked hard in two areas at school which were maths and science.

And thus my english is not so good. Because I didnt pay any attention to it, and I never bothered correcting myself. Guess whos worse off for it? Not my teachers.

Im sure I could be more mature, but You only get to be in the education system once, and I want to live while I can.

However I am far above most people of my generation despite my abysmal spelling and terrible self portraits. I am a social person, I dont drink, smoke, do drugs. I work for all of my money, and have done since I was young, apart from the occasional loan which Id get off my parents, and of course christmas and birthdays. oh, and I dont hang around on street corners playing music on my phone. I have an mp3 player, with headphones.

Now, you guys complain about us getting it easy, but do you really think we have it any easier then you had it? Yes we get the gadgets and such, and social standards are slipping as you can tell by the "yob culture" that is developing. Yet those of us who want to get somewhere still have to work hard, If I want extra money then I have to try and negotiate hours out of my boss, or from co workers, and then I have to save it. ( A job that I spent a good month of my "study time" hunting around for, no one wants to employ an unexperienced youth these days. and then I consider myself lucky for finding something)

I know my life is relatively easy to what you guys have, Im young, I live with my parents who pay the bills and keep a roof over my head. I want to enjoy these few years that I have left before I get thrown out into the real world, working 9-5.

And im not even going to start on the state you guys have left the planet in, or the recession we are approaching, Which Im going to get caught in the middle of.

Sorry about that, my " I'll keep my nose out" post, turned into a grumpy school boy rant Big Smile [:D]

That's just whinging not being grumpy. No I'm sorry you aren't old enough to be a grump. Do your knees crack when you get up from kneeling, are you prone to forget why you've gone into a certain room, can you remember what day to put out the dustbins, do you forget what happened yesterday but still remember who you sat next to in school?

Can you work out in your head how much change you would get out 19s 6d if you bought a dozen eggs at 3 pence each and a quart of milk at 6 pence a pint plus 3 lots of fish and chips at half a crown a portion. If you can then you only are half way to being eligble to be a grumpy old git, until then you are just a wannabee grumpy old git.Wink [;)]
