Re: The grumpy old gits thread......
ABERS: SusanHocking:
Ok, you want a real whinge, here goes then...
I HATE it when people get stupid on the roads, I especially hate it when people think they OWN the road (and i know that they don't because my husband works for the people that do own the road), and I especially hate it when people cut me off and drive stupidly when I have my 2.5 year old in the car! Now that makes me MAD!
Ok, here's another, I hate it when people I don't know and have never met (say at the supermarket) try and tell me how to raise my child...especially when they have no children of their own...that just tick me off!
That's just whinging not being grumpy. No I'm sorry you aren't old enough to be a grump. Do your knees crack when you get up from kneeling, are you prone to forget why you've gone into a certain room, can you remember what day to put out the dustbins, do you forget what happened yesterday but still remember who you sat next to in school?
Can you work out in your head how much change you would get out 19s 6d if you bought a dozen eggs at 3 pence each and a quart of milk at 6 pence a pint plus 3 lots of fish and chips at half a crown a portion. If you can then you only are half way to being eligble to be a grumpy old git, until then you are just a wannabee grumpy old git.![Wink [;)]](/emoticons/emotion-5.gif)
Unfortunately the first paragraph is scarily true for me. mmm, my back just clicked.
That comes from years of lifting incorrectly, and working in a supermarket that has no real regard for health and safety. And my memory, well, lets not even go there.

YES

NO
I've had a baby...I don't need to have an age advantage for all of the above...being pregnant, giving birth and breastfeeding produces the above too you know...![Wink [;)]](/emoticons/emotion-5.gif)

Re: The grumpy old gits thread......
This thread is making me smile. I don't like to admit I'm getting old but i've always been grumpy!
Even more so after putting up with the grumpy b******ds i've had to put up with today.
I've got the trendy trainers, wear hoodies and even got 'cool' hair! The one thing that I do have that the majority of today's yoofs don't have - Respect. Not necessarily for my elders but respect in general.
32 - it's not really old is it?!?!

I'm medically grumpy and I've got a sicknote to prove it ![Big Smile [:D]](/emoticons/emotion-2.gif) Not that young either but I reckon I could still show you young whippersnappers a thing or two, in my day...(repeat to fade or losing the will to live)

Re: The grumpy old gits thread......
As I feel decidedly grumpy at the moment, I'll add my 2 peneth. Yup, I have to agree kids (even some more mature people) and their mobile phones..music and ringtones disturbing my sleep on the bus Maybe worse for me as I dont own a mobile. The foul language the kids use LOUDLY, dont get me wrong, swearing has a time and a place, but certainly not on a bus with very young kids and oaps. Then there's the attitude of people today, selfish and abusive parents, no wonder kids are the same way......need I go on.
Apart from the tele-sales hounding us at work, with no idea what we do or anything else about us. From mobile phones ..hummm..phones again.. to wanting to speak with the person who deals with our lightbulbs Honestly, some things they ring up for have absolutely nothing to do with contact lens manufacture. Really annoying as most of our orders are proccessed over the phone, which means these time wasters tie up our means of communication.
Sigh!! Thanks, feeling a tad better now![Big Smile [:D]](/emoticons/emotion-2.gif)

Re: The grumpy old gits thread......
I think I've worked it out - no matter what thread we start or who it's aimed at certain young people will invade it because their aim is to gain the status of top 10 contributor without ever having to make a meaningful entry in any thread. To do this they need to take over every thread and this one is demonstrating this very well. It does not matter how old, grumpy and gittish we are we do not have their motivation - we dont need to establish a reputation - we dont wish to establish a reputation -Give in it's not worth the effort - let them have the thread - better still give the the Capital Radio thread space to play in....

"Press 1 to speak to an advisor, press 2 to hear more options, press star to hear these options again, press 9 to hang-up".
Phone menu systems. People, believe it or not, want to speak to a person, not just press buttons in some god-awful maze of options.
No, I'm not joking about "press 9 to hang-up". I heard that as an option whilst I was trying to contact some 2-bit company.

I didn't know that there was some sort of cachet from being a top 10 thread contributor. What a vacuous and piffling attainment. Mind you I expect it's a good chat-up line with the girls, "Hey I'm a top poster on the DCM forum, would you like another shake? Hang on though I'll get you one when I've finished photographing myself".
Grumpiness kicks in when you realise one day that whoever said youth is wasted on the young had got it spot on.
Must go, my wife has tied my specs to a bit of string so I can hang them round my neck and not have to keep looking for them, now I can't find the bloody string!

Re: The grumpy old gits thread......
Thanks....thanks very much ![Angry [:@]](/emoticons/emotion-12.gif) ...there I was all nice and comfortably grumpy, a state I was really getting to enjoy when I read this thread...laugh a bit...and then find that I've lost the will to be grumpy. Oh, hang on...thinking about this dicotomy has made me grumpy again! Normal service has resumed. H. PS. Oh, and adesw, if you want to improve your spelling, you can get a spellchecker plug in for firefox ![Wink [;)]](/emoticons/emotion-5.gif) . However, as one who was principally interested in Maths and Science at school and had a healthy sense of hostility to the English classes, I've found with age that grammar is nothing more than a rigorous application of a formal system onto a language and is completely analogous to the application of Maths to Physics.
