Ian, you can only add (embed) a pic to the forum if it's already uploaded to the web somewhere.  Either in your DCM gallery, or another website etc.   If it's in your DCM gallery you can simply copy and paste the pic into a forum reply, or you can add the actual pic address between image tags like these [img]image address goes here[/img]  to display a pic.

    Hi,

The voting on this site has unfortunately been disabled due to it being abused in the past, the site is being re-vamped and the new version should re-instate a form of voting - September is the intended launch.

For people to comment on your gallery, they need to be able to find you, if you go to the first post in this thread you will find instructions on how to add a link to your gallery in your signature, also if you start visiting other peoples galleries and leaving comments they will usually reciprocate with comments on yours.

Lastly the search function is at the top right corner of the gallery pages, a blank box with a search button next to it, type your search word(s) into the box and click the Search button, do not press enter on the keyboard or it will not work.

Good Luck, if you get stuck with anything, just shout.

    Cheers, Peter.

    PHD,

Due to the disjointed nature of the DCM software I'm not sure you can change your email address.  You will have to speak to an Admin to see if they can resolve this for you.   You can however change the email address associated with the forums by clicking your name, (top right of screen) next to "signed in as", and then go to the email tab.

OK I'm stuck and feeling somewhat stoopid here....

Last night at home I tried to upload a few piccies of our trip to monkey world into my gallery....but it kept coming up with invalid file name...here's what I am using

Elements V5.0 the file is named something along the lines of Monkey World 08.05.24 jpg0441 (I'm at work at the moment so that may not be exact) and I could not figure out what I was doing wrong...but whatever I tried it would not let me upload any photos which is particularly frustrating as I have about 16 shots I wanted to put up here, and then put some of them into the Animal Photography thread....Here at work I tried uploading a photo I took here that is just sitting in "My Pictures" and it let me load it into the gallery no problem at all (now deleted)... I know I am doing something wrong but being the numpty  Embarrassed [:$] I am I can't figure out what it is I am doing wrong, can somebody help me out with an idiot guide to loading a photo onto my gallery from Elements....

Keith, you cannot use full stops or spaces in naming your file. And it should end with .jpg

The only full stop should be the one between the file "name" and "type". Try naming something like monkeyworl01.jpg

Webby thanks for that mate, I dunno what I was doing but it seems if I open "My Pictures" then browse through them that way I can the upload them, but still can't upload them directly from Elements (guess I need to work on my "workflow" somewhat)

Not sure how to do something on the forums, then check out the links below. Wink [;)]

Use of foul language in the forums will result in a one week ban

How to add a gallery link to your signature

Add a link from your gallery, to your Contact Button

links back to your gallery from comments. Thanks to Ian Webb (Webby) for writing this one. Wink [;)]

How to add a photo to a forum post

How to add your Avatar  (it's the little pic next to your name) Thanks Gill Maheu for asking.

Hi Lurkalot, this is a great list, I've been trying workout how to add an image that links to my gallery as you and a few others have, but cant quite get the code right. Can you please help me by posting some sample code, thanks in advance.

    Bob

I have managed it with the help of Steve Polky who supplied me an example which I give below.

    <A HREF="/photos/bsmiths_gallery/default.aspx"><IMG alt="Bob's Gallery" src="/photos/bsmiths_gallery/images/810366/original.aspx"></A>

so if you follow the instructions given for adding a liknk to your gallery, but edit the code above to reflect your gallery you should be ok. Below are the parts that would require editing marked in red

    <A HREF="/photos/your_gallery/default.aspx"><IMG alt="your Gallery name " src="/photos/your_gallery/images/image ref/original.aspx"></A>

    How does a thread vanish?

I started a thread last week concerning the locking of the Nikon spam that appeared on the Forums. It queried when and why threads were locked and it elicited quite a number of responses. It has now disappeared altogether. Has that been locked or deleted?

Re: How does a thread vanish?

    Alan,
Threads can be deleted for a number of reasons - one of these includes making a 'why was this deleted?' or 'why was this locked?' thread. Such threads generally only serve to continue the discussion that it was decided to end in the first place.

While I accept that the advertorial may not have been welcomed by the forum, we felt that it was not neccessary to discuss its status in a secondary thread after it was locked. When the advertorial ended, the accompanying thread was deemed no longer relevant. If you would like to query why a thread was locked, you can send Ant or I an email or private message and we'll be happy to answer, though generally you'll receive notification in your email inbox with an explanation.

    Thanks,

    JD
