Re: B & W in recognition of this month's DCMag

Craig, I really like the hands shot.  Nice.

Simmotino - have already commented on your billiards shot in a different thread, love it!

Abers - The first chairs: I really like the interesting composition of an otherwise dull subject.  The chair on the left looks like it has been pasted over the folded chair though which spoils it just a  little bit for me.   The old woman shot is great, this is where B&W excells for me.  It tells a great story.  With the Louvre shot the angels and perspective are enhanced wonderfully by the use of B&W, again, well done!

Andy, like your Slate Road shot, it's dark and gritty, like an old abandoned movie if you know what I mean?

Linda, I really like the viewpoint of the harbour shot.  I bet that it looks good in colour too?

Craftysnapper, I really like the montage, although I'd like to see it without the colour inclusion, or perhaps just one poppy by the headstone?

Here's one from me, was taken with B&W film in Varenasi.  Throughout my whole trip in Inidia I carried both B&W and colour, but it wasn't until the last few days of my trip that I switched to B&W.

When taking this cliched image I had B&W in mind

    David

That's a very '50s shot in the plane, the leather look in the plane adds to the effect. I can imagine it being part of a Camel cigarettes advert or similar!

Here's my contribution, in recognition of the mag article, I've even used the sky they provided on CD, what do you think?

I've 'tweaked' it quite a bit as well as the new sky. Details of where/what the sculpture is are in my gallery.

Looks very good with the sky. I like the angle too. Here's another I took waiting for the pilot.

These little guys are grey and brown in their natural state so I thought that made them the perfect subject for black and white.

Re: B & W in recognition of this month's DCMag

I'm loving this black and white thread, some great stuff posted. I've decided to get in on the act myself with this somewhat strange offering.

Came across this place on Tuesday whilst doing the circular walk of Carsington water, a reservoir in Debyshire. Saw the building from some distance away standing on its own in the woods and assumed it was some sort of toilet block or rest place (at 5 miles into the walk it is just over halfway). Not till we stumbled up to the front door did we realise it was some sort of bizzare recycling experiment.

The colour original is a bit orange for my taste, due to the colouring of the wood, but the B&W conversion seems to work ok.

Martin - the three guys look like they are enjoying the chit chat, nicely taken

Graham - What!!! were they made to watch?? excellent capture

David - love the soft tones, excellent stuff

Veggieosage - Love the contrast in your shot, sky so dark against the light of the windmills arms

Adam - Nice composition, the sky fits in great

Spin498 - A catch light in the eye, good stuff, like it lots

Kev - commented on your gallery - love it

Here's one I have been playing with, expanded shot on gallery ...............

    Take care,

    Linda
