Well the last time he wrote, he said 'we are doing some original stuff', so I assume he has got together with some other musicians - here is a pic so you can recognise him if you see him.

Hey there, my name is sarah, i had my very first camera in june 2006, and just went from there really, i have tried to learn lots, blood, sweat and tears sometimes getting things straight in my head, but all seemed to come together in the end,

I have a studio which i rent to freelance togs, and i also shoot myself and was taught studio lighting by one of them which helped having a mentor to moan to if it all went horribly wrong ha ha, so thats me really, i love studio work and i am heavily into Photoshop, and manupulating my shots,

I have a Canon 5D and various lenses

Re: Hello. I'm new here. New member introductions

    Hi everyone,

I'm new around here, although I joined the forum several months back (I'm not even sure when -- is this board on US or UK date format?!) to get equipment and vendor advice when I was looking to purchase my first dSLR.  I ended up with a Nikon D80 and I've fallen in love with it.  Particularly in the last couple of months with the weather turning beautiful, I've grown pretty obssessed.

I'd always wanted to get into photography. When I was younger I spent a lot of time in art classes and used to do a lot of drawing; I particularly enjoyed color theory and colored pencil work.  I marveled at photography but was intimidated by the technical side of it so never pursued it.  (I'm also a terribly impatient person, which didn't mesh well with the relatively slow, expensive results obtained in film photography.)  In the last 10 years or so, however, I've changed from a technophobe to a technophile (even to the point of working in web/e-learning development!).  That change + the immediate results and lessons afforded by digital have made photography finally accessible to me.

My move to Edinburgh from the US this past November was the last push I needed.  I fell in love with the city and found myself deeply frustrated by my inability to capture its beauty and atmosphere using the auto settings on my little Canon PowerShot.  I took the plunge, invested in a serious camera, picked up a copy of Understanding Exposure, and started crawling the web for great resources like this forum.

I'm excited to learn from all of you.  I'm amazed by many of the shots I've seen and can't wait to pick your brains for tips and advice!

Hi Kelly, welcome to the forum.  Edinburgh is a wonderful city, one of the few that I'd visit again by choice.  That reminds me, I have some film to scan from my last trip there.

    Anyway, welcome all.

Hello. I'm new here. New member introductions

    Hello,

I live in Kent, but work up in London, in administration - nothing creative.  I own a Canon 300D, but have no home computer or whizz bang software with which to edit my photographs.   I would love to upgrade to a Canon EOS 5D with at least one macro lens, but won't have the funds for (at least) another 8 years.  Sad [:(]

In the meantime, I experiment with what I've got and hope for the best.  I've only recently picked up digital photography magazines in the hope of finding some courses, information, hints and tips and the odd bargain.

I have to admit to seeing other people's pictures and stealing their ideas and experimenting so I can learn more about my camera.  Even the basics escape me, such as ISO, aperture, etc. so I have a lot to learn.

I look forward to reading and viewing what's on offer here at these fora.

    Cheers,
    i-c-photos

    Hello i-c and welcome.

Someone on this forum recommended this site for helping with the basics ... I found it brilliant.  Anything you want to know, just ask, everyone is really friendly and helpful (well in my humble opinion anyway).

    Hello all!!

I've been lurking and soaking up the advice for ages. thought it was about time to poke my nose in.

I've been interested in photography since I was a kid but it wasn't until i got hold of a digital compact that I started to play. I got a bridge and then about 18 months ago I got my SLR.

I'm a Canon man, tried Nikons and they are fine cameras but the Canon felt right.

I've been lucky to cobble together some kit which I've listed below. I'm in the process of organising piles of images so in the next month or so I'll start of a bit of a gallery - I'm really up for critique as I think I'm at a stage where my photography is really starting to improve. However we know have a three month old son so at present my free time is severely curtailed!

    kit list

Canon 350D with battery grip - never take the thing off.
    50mm 1.8
    Canon 17-85mm USM IS
    Tamron 70-300 LD
    Sigma 105mm 2.8 Macro
    Canon 430EX with stofen
    Manfrotto 190 proB
Waiting for Postie to deliver the Sigma 10-20mm.
Want to replaqce the tamron with the Canon 75-300 IS USM after being so pleased with the 17-85. Then I'll back off for abit

And a small pile of bits and bobs.

    Glad to meet you all!

Life is just too damn short to forget about the fun stuff!

    Re: Hello all!!

    Andy,

Looking at the photos on the site you link to, if you've done them with that kit then who cares whats in the bag - it's the results that count and your images are spot on mate!

I've just received the Sigma 10-20 today and had to really squuuueeeze my kit bag to fit it in. No more room. Now I just have to keep up the pre-tense to the wife that I got it all for £500 quid
    ;-)

Re: Hello. I'm new here. New member introductions

    Hiya everyone

Just joined this site today. I have been into photography on & off over the years. First started off with a Canon EOS 1000FN then bought myself a EOS 5. had these for a couple of years, then decided to go digital, so I traded the whole kit for a point and shoot Digital camera which the salesman said would pretty much do what the SLR can. I won't say what shop or make of camera , just in case I offend anyone lol, but it put me off taking photo's for some time.

I then started getting the bug again, decided to go back to SLR, and went the EOS route, as I was happy with the film cameras. So now I own a 350D, which I have for the past 3 years now.

I was a member on another camera mag forum, but decided to leave, and had another little break from photography in order to my life back in order (paying bills etc)

Oh, forgot to say who I am lol

My name is Jamie, I live in East Wittering, which is on the south coast in West Sussex.

Work as a Train Driver (hence the profile name) and another Train driver told me about this site, so you can blame him for me turning up lol.
