Really? That's a shame. I have a small flock that visits the feeder in my yard 3 or 4 times a day.

Hi moonlustie, cracking shot of this chap, I have pics of him going back six years. Last year he was the ousted stag and looked rather lonesome at the Ham end of the park. I have loved all the photos on these pages but have not had time to pop in the last few days as I have been building up my flickr site and started some groups. best too all Simon

Thanks Simon - wow six years, that's impressive.

Spin - reminds me I must get mine set up, your pic could have been taken outside my window LOL.

Ellis - I'm amazed at how sharpe you've managed to get that, the little beggars are always on the move!

and Steve I just luuuuuuuuuve your tiger, so beautiful!

Thanks Moon. I'd not really done any bird photos before so I quickly learned that watching a bit of their behaviour could go a long way to getting a decent shot (or any shot at all!). The nuthatches always used a staging post on the tree before they jumped onto the feeder, so with some patience & a quick shutter finger I was able to catch them!

Graham, the tiger shot wasn't there when I posted. I was very surprised when I saw it thinking I was having memory issues. Then I noticed the two messages were posted simultaneously.

Hi Moonlustie, I am pretty sure it is the same stag by the antlers. There is a pic of what I think is him on my Flickr page below. Cheers Simon

    simon steele:

This is a magnificent wild Chital or Axis deer in North Queensland Australia , he is within a week or so of rubbing his velvet covered antlers free of it , I have watched and photographed this master stag for the past year and have photos with his previous set of anlers on as well as just after he dropped them , he would be 5-6 years old now and looking like the boss.

    hi simon,

where in NQ are wild deer? I live in Townsville, so am rather curious about this, and whether it might be close enough for me to come see for myself!

I thought that, I was looking at the forecast all week prior to our visit.  Everyday it was the same for the Sunday, light rain.

Then, fantastically it changed two days before to cloudy.  It was awesome!  Never trust the forecasters!!

Felt for one of the guys though, he`d dropped his camera a couple of days prior.  When he got home, all his shots were slightly out of focus. Gutted isn`t the word....

I`ll say something though, that walk across the sand out to the sea is one heck of a trek!

Re: ANIMAL PHOTOGRAPHY - Post yours here

Ouch, how sad for him, I'd be gutted too, what a shame Sad [:(]

It's not the rain that worries me, forecast is for really strong NE winds and very cold, sea spray wouldn't do the camera or lenses much good,  I'll get there one day.

steve.garner32 – Cracking shot of the Tiger and he/she even looks content.

sue allen – Great pictures of the dogs.

minky_monkey – Fantastic pictures of the seals and their pups. As for weather forecasters mainly the five-day ones, they appear to be wrong more often than they are right.

One from today of a Kingfisher and it's the first time I've seen him here this year. Shame I didn't have my 2x converter with me. Big Smile [:D]
