Cropped, slightly defocussed (not blur, fyi ), resized, converted to monochrome, filmgrain added, tinted, bordered.

OK...looks like an authentic 50's bus picture now! Thanks, but I was still trying to get that transition from b&w into colour effect...bit like the opening part of Wizard of Oz, when the mono ilm changes to technicolor (c)...?

Will try your technique on some  pix I have of a hangar dance at an RAF base - should work well with them.

Hmm... I can easily isolate the bus from the background, and convert either into b+w. I did try a transition effect, but it just looked strange.

Cropped, bus selected, selection inverted, selection grown and feathered, selected area converted to monochrome, resized, overall photo sharpened, bordered.

The attempts at doing a transition really did look weird.

Everest great action photo. Colloghi also a awesome shot but it a bit to dark maybe and also is it just me or is there a strange glow around the rim of bthe rock where it meets the sky back drop. I dont think its natural light reflecting. What is that Colloghi but then again it could be nothing my computer screen is really bad with heavy contrasted areas. But a good shot never the less.

Here is mine...

I went through a phase where i was only taking pictures of subjects but on half of it. If anyone seen my DCM gallery you will know what i'm talking about. I dont know why but i just like this sort of shot. Any thoughts guys.

Heantun is this the type of effect your looking for?

 

If it is and you are using Adobe CS, copy layer then select image adjustments and de - saturate the image. Then select the marquee tool and select part of the picture you want to work on once this is done press the add mask button, select paint brush and set to white. Deselect the orig background layer then paint away for desired split / effect. Reselect the orig background to see the effect then  sharpen etc and save.
