Keith (krennon) - don't rise to the bait old son. Looking at the date you joined the forum it's obvious that your experiences with Stan are few and far between and these sort of comments are things that we have all learnt to live with. Personally, if I lived a few kilometres closer I'd put the old git out of his misery, as indeed I would for any other animal. He not very subtly makes continued reference to the Germans and WW2 etc etc and if you take his age into consideration, his experiences of the war (let alone his memories) must be very limited. That's of course if you disregard the fact that the Germans may have bombed his fish and chip shop. Shame he wasn't in it at the time I say, and that's coming from a Brit by the way. Big Smile [:D]

Re: What made you feel good today?

    Hi Alan

I'm learning quick about Stan having read some of his previous posts etc lol.

I was merely pointing out that some of Stans heroes (Winston Churchill, Thomas Edison, General Patton, and probably Stans mate Leonardo Da Vinci Wink [;)] to name but a few) were dyslexic and to put someone down personally for being dyslexic could potentially have a damaging affect on that individual particularly if they are vulnerable/weak/sensitive etc, all I am saying is THINK before you write and post......

and in the words of Basil Fawlty "Don't Mention The War" (and yes Stan my grandpa fought for K&C just as you did and one of his best friends post war was a German)

Now back to the thread "What made me feel good today" one of my colleagues coming in to work just today to say hello after having been off for 6 weeks after having had a heart op and he's only 34 and he's doing ok so that was good.

Stan, you have a great stirring action, one of the best I've seen, almost more of a whisking action, if I didn't know better I would think you were almost trying to beat Herr into it. But could you please kindly stop defecating into it before stirring, it leaves a very nasty taste, not to mention, bad smell about the forums.

    Many Thanks.

I had a dyslexia test today. In itself not great for feelgood value but the test is in 4 sections and the first part i got a really good score on. Let me explain: the fist part of the test tests you on image sequences which dyslexia has no effect on so as to gage how sharp you are in general before it tests you for Dyslexic problems. In this section i got the highest marking band which made me feel rather prowd of myself because it basicly means i have a sharp mind. Smile [:)] the further 3 sections of the test (Word Recognision, Word construction and memory) were as expected and indicated that there is a high probabilty of dyslexia. (which we knew anyways really) so now i need to scedule a full (3 hour) test with an educational Phychologist so that i can get a full diagnosis and see what benifits i am eligable for.

This is all good news because it means i'm not stupid!! and i'll get help with my next couple of years at uni Smile [:)]

They certainly did not test you for spelling. You are at Uni ?  Dear god what future does this country have.

    er Stan

    Definition

    dyslexia   Show phonetics
    noun Broken Heart [U]
a difficulty with reading and writing caused by the brain's inability to see the difference between some letter shapes

If he is, then what the hell is he doing at Uni ?

I think that's a totally uncalled for remark and reflects poorly on you Stan. Sad [:(]

Please do not get me wrong.I feel for sorry for anyone who has uncalled for limitations. But you cannot expect to get to the top rung. Myself, I left school at 14 perfect in mind and body, but all I could look foreward to was the university of death. First lesson, if he has a field grey uniform on and a coal scuttle helmet, shoot him, he`s a German. Just watching the exam results on the TV "Oh I got 3 A levels, I`ll be going to Cambridge". So many did exeptionally well on the exams, I wonder why that is, I`ll give you 3 guesses. I`ll shut up now and get my lunch and say "thank god its not SAUERKRAUT

So according to you he shouldn't even try! I find that a very sad reflection on you. My father did twelve years service before the war, and was in a protected occupation, but on the Monday after the declaration of war, he rejoined and did another six years. That didn't stop him from encouraging others, to use their talents, to better themselves. As for the Germans, he respected them as fellow soldiers, and was sorry he had to fight them. He was in the BEF, which went to Norway in 1940 and fully supported the Crown until his death. So, instead of making remarks, which undermine confidence, you should be wishing them all the best for the future. Big Smile [:D]

Hi PJJ  I think that you have a wicked sense of humour like me. Still I had to reply. After my tea I got stuck into my first love ( no not a woman) casing up my front flash. Don`t quite get the Herr bit. Are you talking about Alan ? I wonder how long he has been in Germany, the German mentality is rubbing off on to him . If you can`t discuss then kill it Big Smile [:D] So I will give this forum a miss.

After my tea I got stuck into my first love ( no not a woman) casing up my front flash. Don`t quite get the Herr bit. Are you talking about Alan ? No Stan, not Alan, but all German and WWII references in general, when one uses a whisk, it is generally to beat air (Herr) into something (sorry possibly too subtle). I wonder how long he has been in Germany, the German mentality is rubbing off on to him. If you can`t discuss then kill it Big Smile [:D] So I will give this forum a miss.

    Stan,

Please kindly stop defecating ($hitting, in plain language) in the forums, it pong's. If I were you, I really would kill it and give this forum a miss, for a while at least.

    Cheers.

Re: What made you feel good today?

Deftly avoiding someones attempts at causing friction in this thread, what got me laughing tonight was some shop phoning up for assistance...

    "Support, Dave speaking"
    '...ello? Support? (mumbling) phones blank'
"Ok, your phone's blank, that's not something we support. I didn't get the rest of your last comment, can you repeat it please?"
'*hic*(mumble) gone off and is blank'
    "Something's not powered on, yep?"
    'Yeah... *hic*'
"Ok, what are you looking at that's not powered?"
    (slurry mumbling)'*hic*'

Then I noticed what shop had phoned up... it was one of a retailer chain that just sells alcohol. Two and two were suddenly put together... a member of staff slurring words, with a bout of hiccups..? My skills of deadpanning were put to the test.

I kid you not! Big Smile [:D]

Thanks for all the kind words folks and thanks for sticking up for me.
Stan, I'm not bothered what you think of me(thats up to you) but sinse you ask yes they test my spelling and yes my spelling is poor. It's the reason i'm getting spesial help, well trying to. (it also relates to organisation and other things like memory) Anyways, I'm at uni doing Digital and Lens media which is Photography, film and interactivity(web-design). All creative things that don't require precise spelling and english skills. I worked through my foundation in art and design, the first year of a degree in digital animation, and the first year of a degree in Digital and lens media without spesial help and got through them all with pass grades of my own back. mainly just to prove to myself that i could. now i figure if the help is offered to me i should take it so that i can make the most of my abuilities and do the best i can.

I never expect to reach the "top rung" i'll readily admit i'm not that good. but there is no harm in doing the best i can with what i have.

sorry for the long winded off topic post there.

Today listening to music loud and playing super monkey ball on my wii made me happy.

also its nice to see so many posts in this thread. Everyone needs to share the happiness more Smile [:)]

Re: What made you feel good today?

Good for you. I always love finding that i have more money than i thought Big Smile [:D] it's a good feeling

This actualy made me happy yesterday but i didn't want to double post in here again. Yesterday whilst i was at work i asked about hours in the new PhotoShop we are opening in sainsbury's that i had applyed for and got an answer i wasn't really expecting. Firstly i was asked when i was available during weekday which i said i wouldn't be able to do all the time because of uni. Then i was asked when i go back to uni. After replying "1st October" i was suprised by a suddenly pleased personelle staff member whiping out a folder full of information and telling me he'd put me on a 5 day course at Fugi to learn. This means that i'll be trained as a CTS staff member (thats pretty much a supervisor/trainer) for the PhotoShop. So that's going to be me and two others as the highest members of staff in the department and the ones that train all the other members of staff. The long and the short of that means that i'm getting a payrise/promosion i didn't even apply for Big Smile [:D] which is great.

Re: What made you feel good today?

Talking about yesterday to a work colleague. His comments? "Tell the shop, take a deep breath... let some air get to it".

As for the shop that had the 'magic' keyboard/monitor (remember? These plugged into nothing, and vanished down a hole?)... "Down a hole? Stick your head down it... what happens?"

Re: What made you feel good today?

For the past 8 months, the Honda Civic has had an annoying (and increasing) rattle whenever the engine was revved. This rattle only occurred when it was warmed up.

On its third visit to "Kwik Fit", and having to physically point to the area where the rattle comes from (and have the car behave absolutely normal, again), the guy said "Ah... wait a minute... that heatshield should be welded here... here... here... and (tap tap, rattle rattle) here".

I know if I mention it, it'll start with the problem again... so... shh. Big Smile [:D]

just got myself the Nikon 10.5 fisheye lens, so i'm verry happy looking forward to having a play with it.............................but on the other hand i'm unhappy because i don't have the time at the moment to play with it, lifes funny like that, it builds you up then knocks you down.
