Re: Hello. I'm new here. New member introductions

    Hello all,

I'm Aud and have dipped in and out of this site a bit, after finding a mag I really liked. Registered last week so thought I best introduce myself. I've been taking photos on and off for years. My first serious camera was a Pentax ME super which I bought (and sold) many years ago. I finally got into digital 5 yrs ago when my father finally persuaded me to get a digital compact. It was a Pentax Optio 33L and I bought it on 11 April 2003 - why do I remember this date? Because I also fell and broke my leg after my first play with the camera - I didn't break the camera though lol!
Still I prefered an SLR so finally bought a Canon 350D a couple of years ago. I've not looked back since and have hopefully been improving. I love digital as it means I can experiment in a way I never could with film (too expensive). I'm not too hot on the processing side, but hopefully the tutorials on the mag discs will help.
Anyway, enough gassing on from me. You might see me in the odd discussion.

    Cheers,
    Aud

Hello to all on these forums and site, we are Kevin and Seri, we joined this site a couple of weeks ago, and are still looking around :-) We have been using a Nikon D50 for a couple of years, and have just stepped up to a D200 (now the price is 30% of what it was)

    Quite a change LOL

    regards,

Re: Hello. I'm new here. New member introductions

Hi.Just joined the forum. Had my digital camera for 14 months now. Nikon D50. Before that i used a Minolta x300. I live in Bristol and took up photography as a hobby around 3 years ago. I completed a Black and White fundimental course (3hr 1night a week for 15 weeks) learning how to use the camera, develope and print black and white film. Loving the digital world and just trying out new things with the camera/ photoshop.

    Re: Hello. I'm new here.

    Hi All,

This is my first post, so i can say; I am new here.

Time for a history lesson: I first got into taking pictures from my Nan, she had a Kodak CX7340 or something like that. On occasion she let me use that camera. But I didn't really continue photography on a regualr basis. It wasn't until i turned twelve that I really started enjoying photography. This time it was my Dad that inspired me. He had bought a Nikon D200, and i thought that it was the best camera you could get. My dad let me use that D200 often, so I really started to enjoy photography. Then I got a Kodak Z650, and this is my main camera. I also own a Kodak C310, but don't use that camera much. I really enjoy taking photos, and often my Dad and I will go out to shoot photos.

    Well,
Thanks for reading this post, and I look forward to being part of, what looks like, a really vibrant community.

    Thanks

    Hi there,

My name is Rob and I live in Crawley in West Sussex.  I've been taking photographs for many years now but now would like to take it more seriously now.  It would be great to meet up with people who live in the same area to share tips.

Re: Hello. I'm new here. New member introductions

Hi I'm new to digital photography, I have a Nikon D40 with the 18-55 lens which I've had a few months and looking to upgrade my lens.  I like photographing scenery and family members (when they let me)  I also like to photograph vehicles, just about anything really.  Is there any type of lens which is best for me.  I've heard about the Sigma 70-300 but this doesn't have IS built in (does this make much difference) see told you I was new to this.

Any suggestions re lenses would be most welcome.

    Hi Billy & Welcome,

I can't help you on the lens choice I'm afraid, I know nothing about Nikon kit, plenty on here do though. I would suggest that you make a separate post in the How To: Choosing Equipment thread on here, it will gain a far wider readership.

    http://community.dcmag.co.uk/forums/7/ShowForum.aspx

Also as you're new on here, I would suggest you have a quick read through this thread:

    http://community.dcmag.co.uk/forums/thread/381338.aspx

Which should get you off to a running start.

    Cheers, Peter.

Re: Hello. I'm new here. New member introductions

    Hello:

I am extremely, EXTREMELY new to photography.  I was using a good old "point and shoot" (Lumix TZ1).  I guess I was naturally setting apetures, shutter speeds, etc. without really realizing it, so I went ahead and got a Nikon D40, which, some photographers don't like, but figured it was a good place to start.  So, I guess, any advice for a new Nikon user would be greatly appreciated!

Other than that, I live in Canada, and am a school teacher.

Am wanting feedback for my pictures, though I know at this stage they are not very good!  I am loving playing with photography, and composing picutres that I find interesting.

    Check out my gallery.

    Thanks!

Re: Hello. I'm new here. New member introductions

    Hello,

Happened to be reading DCM forums for the first time today. I live in Goa ,India and like taking photos, unfortunately I own a compact Fuji S3100 4MP camera as a DSLR is  way out of my budget.  But what prompted me to email you is that I have pictures of old houses that I really  would have liked to be living in ( I live in a small flat in a building), and was wondering if you would like to recive them through email ?. I know yr interests are in abandoned/ derelict structures, but if you are interested,  fell free to email me   blasco@nio.org  giving me some details about yourself and your real name too.

    With regards,

     Blasco Fernandes.

Re: Hello. I'm new here. New member introductions

Hi everyone and welcome to the forum.  My best advice?  Don't be afraid to try something new, don't be afraid to ask (most of us don't bite) and don't ever think you'll have mastered photography - there's always something new to learn!

Terri, whereabouts in the NE do you live?  We have recently moved up to the Durham area and I'm always open for tips on landscape hotspots!

    Martin.
