Garage just called. The gearbox in my 2003 2.0l Ford Focus needs replacing. My warranty expires tomorrow, and I only booked it in because it was making a strange noise when accelerating under load. Apparently that noise is horribly destructive, and while they can't pinpoint what it is exactly, they're going to swap out the gearbox.

They've said they can't do it for a week, though, and if I want to have it done under warranty it has to stay in the garage and not be driven. Carless am I... and there's a chance that it won't even fix the problem (and I'll have to pay for something else.)

Same here sue. Rain or dull clouds for the last two weeks, with only a glimpse of sun every two days for about ten minutes. Stopped raining today at about five pm, with the sun appearing at 7pm.

What is it with some miserable sods on ebay not giving feedback? You buy stuff off them, pay the minute the auction finishes, comply with their request to let them know when it gets to you (despite the fact that they charged you £10 yet only sent it recorded delivery), you even leave nice feedback for them but do they bother?

Or you sell them something, they pay you quick so, having done their bit, you leave them some nice feedback. You post it special delivery, send them the tracking number so they feel safe and...silence.

I've only had a short ebay career so not had chance to build up much feedback, therefore need all the help I can get.

I was looking at an item on ebay where the seller would only post the item to you after you had left positive feedback due to the new regulation that sellers can't leave negative feedback. Hmm - so I buy something from him, leave feedback saying how good it is, then he posts it and it's a load of rubbish - that sounds like a good idea! It is annoying when people don't leave feedback when you've sold to them. For a start you're always unsure if the things arrived safely. I always leave feedback immediately I receive something OK but always wait for the buyer of things I've sold to do it first. One thing I noticed recently was that my feedback jumped overnight from around 620 to 678 - I assume they've begun to calculate it differently and added on multiple feedbacks from those you've sold to more than once.

Hi Sue,

That's one of my real bug-bears about Ebay... If you've bought something and paid for it promptly, the seller should then give feedback on receipt of that payment. After all, the buyer has fulfilled their side of the contract and therefore is entitled to receive positive feedback. When the goods arrive and have been checked to make sure everything's in order, that's the point at which the buyer should leave some... not before the seller does. Now to me, that seems perfectly fair.

I haven't bought anything under the new system so it remains to be seen if it's really much fairer now.
