Re: What made you feel good today?
Well done Kate & Valentine
If you've got a job at JL go with it I know several people who have worked for them and it's worth sticking with just for the annual bonus, that and apparently they treat their staff really really well. And yes I did put HAVE WORKED as past tense, 2 of them left as they emigrated, and another left when she got pregnant and another one left because she got offered a really really good job with another retail outlet....Good luck to you both though

Re: What made you feel good today?
Valentinecook:Well done kate! Im still trying though i had a job interview at John Lewis today which went fantastic! Defo think I've got it. and next week ive got another interview so im now getting them in all at once. ![Smile [:)]](/emoticons/emotion-1.gif) Anyway. My sister pushing my Nan down a 60ft zip wire at the holiday park my sis works at was the highlight. (though that was yesterday evening.) ![Big Smile [:D]](/emoticons/emotion-2.gif)
Well done for you interview! I'm sure if you thought it went well, then it probably did! I had 3 interviews this week and 3 meetings with recruitment agencies (Don't bother with them, they are useless) it was so tedious saying the same things over and over again, but I got there in the end and you will too Good luck!
P.S Thanks to everyone for the congrats!
Kate

With all respect Kate, I totally disagree with writing off the agencies. Granted, recruitment consultants can be directly compared with estate agents, but as with the latter, you have a responsibility to do your research. With upto 40 recruitment agencies per town, you need to find out who their clients are, what their rates are like and how they operate generally. Since Sarbanes Oxley legislation, it's harder to sign up 'quickly', hence the need to do your research. I've been using agencies for over 10 years and they have got me to where I am now (a happy well paid existence!). In fact, given the credit crunch, agencies are becoming ever more useful as companies don't want to comit to the cost of an FTE.
Just thought I'd share my perspective for the benefit of those who are looking for work and may be put off of agencies, following your experience.
Oh, and congratulations! ![Big Smile [:D]](/emoticons/emotion-2.gif)

Good luck with the JLP job Valentine. I worked for them for a couple of years whilst I was at college and it was a good experience. It's nice to be able to represent one of the last bastions of good customer service. You know, like the opposite of Jessops where the staff generally don't know their products and couldn't care less. I was part time so I didn't get any bonuses, but it was the early 90's so the bonuses had dried up for a while. I hear it's back on track now, but the way the economy is going, it's hard to be certain. Anyway, a great working environment. Good Luck. Regards, Jason.

Re: What made you feel good today?
Getting a job interview (at 3 hours notice, it was a panic to make sure the suit fitted!) only 4 days after being made redundant, so my CV can't be all bad... It was my first proper interview since December 1994, hopefully I made a good impression.

ABERS:
That's good news. First I heard about Shelfy was from DMT. Hope all is still well with him.
Wmmfgt? Er... well, maybe it's a good thing... dunno... but it's been a year since my left forearm was left immovable, the left elbow joint having been fractured and dislocated as well.
... and this time last year, I was really wanting to tell various people that I'd not simply vanished... I was tolerating hospital wards.
A word to all: Never think life is obvious and set... it'll throw a "curve ball" at you.
Life's thrown several of those at me in the past year...!

Yeah, you're right. Everyone has different experiences, mine were bad, but I probably shouldn't have put it so bluntly. I know they can be useful, my boyfriend got a job straight away going through an agency. Sorry if I put anyone off going to one, or offended anyone who works at one .
