    Re: Post your best here...

Hello David nice to see your work and what a picture it is too. Cant quite put my fingure on why i like it, i think its the expression or perhaps the lack of an expression on the shop keepers they just look ready to go home and we all have felt that at one point or the other.

And it was probably your idea in one of the posting in "photo of the day" and me miss reading the first post not realising that it was only for recent posting.

I love travel photography but i'm really bad at approaching people so one day i said to myself that i'm just going to go out and do it so i went to the floating market in Thailand. Having some great shots guess what happened, i dropped it into the canal whilst changing it. So moral of story is i dont have any good market shots and CF cards dont do well in water.

    Re: Post your best here...

David (Constable), thanks for your comments on my photo. I do like your bridge photo as well. I think alexmac has explained very well why it "attracts a few comments". The composition, lighting, exposure is all spot on. It also uses the "leading lines" rule very well, with the curves in the under-side of the bridge. The colouring is also very appealing. You've done very well with this one.

Also, just wanted to say thanks to everyone who has commented on here about my photo and also in my gallery. We all know that we are our own worst critics so it's always nice to get positive feedback and know that others like your photos as well.

There are some really great photos being posted on here, as well as in the galleries. Congrats to everyone! There are a lot of very talented people in this community. Keep up the great work people! Smile [:)]

Perahps not a "best picture" entry..but some advice will be appreciated! I was trying to get a "gradient" effect in PS Elements 4 - to give the impression of the bus coming out of the B&W back into colour - back to life as it were.. the effect is there but not as graphically as I would like. Any suggestions?

Hi Moira, Hope you are well.

Shhhhhhh, don't tell anyone, but it was from our day at Marwell.

I can't wait for the magazine to come out.

Just open the image in your gallery, right click over it and select 'copy'. Then, when you are ready in your post, right click again and select 'paste'. It should appear.

    David Bracher:

I remember David Constables Bridge photo from DCM. Like the crop you've done. It makes you concentrate on the wonderful shapes bathed in orange light. And Alexmac's Leopards Brilliant. Good composition but it's the subtle tones that held my view. Bolton Dave I like your train shot though I think it's a shame about the man holding a magazine in the middle of the shot.

Glad to see there's plenty of comments here instead of just posting. Thanks to Ray for starting it.

Here's one from a market in Delhi. It's grainy due to high ISO but I wanted to keep the colours and lighting as they were.

David i must confess that is not my picture in Digital Camera, but i do remember it well, infact when i saw it i thought i was my picture.

There is an Adult Education centre in Rochester, Kent that runs basic photography courses and this is one on the locations they use, so unfortunately someone beat me to it on this occassion.

interesting concept Heantun, i like the picture but i think the monochrome side needs more impact if you get my meaning. This has given me some great ideas though so thanks for posting

brilliant idea, would make the pic very atmospheric.. i would make a new layer then very roughly selec the back half of the pic feather to 80 then desaturate.. using layers this way you can build on the effect by varying the opacity!

    Re: Post your best here...

Thanks, Sandra. I will try that on Sunday. I am "up late" after getting garden ready for family BBQ tomorrow, so little time for doing what I want to do! Hopefully No 1 son will take the snaps though!

    All ideas gratefully welcome!

    Thanks again!
