Well lets see if this works then!

Would any of you give me some feedback on the picture I submitted?

    Thanks

Hi Moira, not at allSmile [:)],

I love candids and you have caught this one perfectly with the soldiers and little girl in just the right juxta position.

To me this image loses a lot of its impact due to being in colour and also the large window are taking the the eye of the veiwer past the little girl.

I think if you did this in mono and cropped the windows (you would have to do a little cloning) this would be a much stronger image...JMO...you did askSmile [:)]

Not sure if it's my VERY best, but it's definitely one of them

    Re: Post your best here...

Thank you for the feedback, yes I do think you are right about monochrome, and the cropping.  I have not problem with the cloning, but trying to get a b & w is something I have to work on...

Impressive colours. Were these enhanced by using a polariser?

I'm with Sue Allen on this, there are some great pics here, definitely some contenders for Pic of the Day, it would be great if they picked some from this thread

    Re: Post your best here...

Moira, I have to agree with Crafty's comments on your photo. It didn't really have much impact as it was, but Crafty's reworked version, I think, has improved it dramatically. Always try, while you're taking your photos, to think about the composition and the image you're trying to convey in your photo. Smile [:)]

Crafty, I love your photo, the colours are beautiful and the detail in the petals and the water droplets is spot on. Smile [:)]

Harry, your photo is excellent as well. I don't know why you would consider NOT posting it, it's beautiful. Smile [:)]

Dan, thanks for the comment on my lighning photo too. I appreciate it. Big Smile [:D]

    Re: Post your best here...

Although I love flowers I tend to shy away from them as a subject because so many flower shots look similar. Not the case with Boltondave's shot of the single snowdrop. Excellent both in composition and exposure.

I took this shot of a bunch of crocuses and desaturated it added a sepia effect and blurred the outside of the subject a little to try and give a dreamy effect. Did I succeed ?

Any comments positive or negative by the more  flower addicted experts in here would be appreciated.

    New Old Flowers

PS Harry Shepherd's more conventional colour photo of the flowers and water droplets was SUPERB.

All the photos on here have real high merit - Keep them coming - and maybe ,just maybe they will squeeze the "snapshots" out of the Photograph Of The Day " front page on this DCM Magazine website.

I really love the pictures in this thread !! - must be the best thread started - I like the dragonfly one (can you reduce it and re-upload it)

Also - having to un-subscribe from this thread - getting 2 e-mails for each reply is quickly filling up my in-box on this topic - anyone else with same problem?

This is a recent shot, taken at Stratford Butterfy Farm. It was behind glass, so I was pleased how it came out. I'm not 100% happy with it yet, but would appriciate some independant comments!

Hi Dave,  no polarizer used, this was taken in the garden in the rain with just a small break in the clouds illuminating the centre of the subject which was very fortutious Smile [:)]
