Weekend Competition: The Best Photographer in the world (15th-17th Sep 06)

I scream, you scream, we all scream for Ice Cream :)

Here it is "The best picture of Ice Cream" whether it be a pile of the good stuff or someone eating it - is up to you, basically anything with some in the frame, but extra cred should go to a humourous factor.

Bonus being we can eat the props Cool [H] well depending on what you do with it I guess Big Smile [:D]

    Good luck all

    oRGie..

Here are the rules as posted by Cedar..

First of all, please do not chat in this thread. If you have any questions please email me at phil@spirituk.net. This thread is for photographs only.

Hopefully you have read the above message, this is what you need for the competition. These are your instrucions for the competition.

You must stick to the instructions. If your picture looks like it has not been taken by following rules and you win, you will be asked for a RAW/JPEG original. The winner will be asked for a JPEG version of the file so we can check the time and date it was taken.

You have from Friday night/Saturday morning 00:00 until Sunday 23:59 to take your photo and post it up. Your photo must be on this site before Monday morning 00:00. No photo will be accepted if it is not on by this time.

At this time I will make a poll available as the last message on the thread. Anybody can vote, whether you have submitted a photo or not. You can only vote once as you polls remember IP addresses. You may also vote for yourself but I would hate to be the idiot that won off their own vote!

When the votes are counted I will ask the winner to supply me with a small original version so I can check the time and date on the properties. ALL SHOTS MUST BE TAKEN ON THAT WEEKEND FROM MIDNIGHT FRIDAY - MIDNIGHT SUNDAY. This makes it fair as the winner may have a good pic he took 2 years ago, making his life easy for the following weekend.

I will then officially post the Winners name. They must then add their Winning title "The Best Photographer in the World 15th-17th Sep 2006" (Weekend date you win) and start a new thread called:

Weekend Competition: The Best Photographer in the world (22nd-24th Sep 06) and post your instructions. Your instructions can be anything, however easy or hard. Make your instructions fully clear.

Even though we may get all this done by Thurday 7pm, you can only start the comp in the given time. That makes it more interesting and fair.

I hope this is clear and I really hope you enjoy the rest of the weekend! Goodluck!

    Cedar

Re: Weekend Competition: The Best Photographer in the world (15th-17th Sep 06)

    Thanks oRGie,

I am sorry I have not been on the thread recently. I am full of the flu at the moment. One change to the rules. Once Sunday 23:59 has gone and all the pics are up I will post the link for voting. Please feel free to chat about your techniques etc... at this point inside this thread. As we have a special poll we don't need the thread to be clear of chatter. Thanks again and good luck.

    Cedar.

Re: Weekend Competition: The Best Photographer in the world (15th-17th Sep 06)

Trying to think of a humourous icecream picture proved to be quite a challenge, and by then I didn't have much time left to develop the idea. Anyway, here's my entry, entitled Dawn of the Choc-Ice.

Choc-Ice is illuminated by a small T-light candle, ISO 100, F5.6 at 3.2 seconds. The original idea was to have the candle in the shot but it just didn't seem to work.

Re: Weekend Competition: The Best Photographer in the world (15th-17th Sep 06)

Agreed, this was a bit hard, my entry is inspired by the thread on here a while back about photographing jelly babies, i call it "this could take a while......"

Taken On The Nikon D50 with Tamron 55-200mm Lens

Settings were: ISO 200, 1/40 Sec @f6.3, Lens at 55mm, Pattern Metering in Aperture Priority, Custom White Balance, DIY Mini studio made from 2 sheets of A3 Paper.

I tried using flash, but didn't like it as much.

Here's my attempt at an entry, entitled 'The Ice-Cream Man' (or should that be 'person'?)

Re: Weekend Competition: The Best Photographer in the world (15th-17th Sep 06)

I'm not sure whether we're allowed to have more than one entry. If we are limited only to one entry, then I'll withdraw my first picture in favour of this one.

Taken with an E-500, 17-45mm lens at 25mm, 1/125 at F5.6, ISO 100 with a 100 w/s studio flash. I decided on a high key look with strong foreground shadow to lift the front of the plate.

I still don't know how to add a bloody picture so I have posted the link again.

It is a quick photo with the title: Ice Cream Wars

Everybody loves the last dollop of Ice Cream................ Even the cutlery!

    Hope you enjoy!

Solaris, only one can be entered. Entering two is disqualification i'm afraid! But as you did not know (my fault as it was in the original rules but not this weeks, and this is a friendly comp, I don't mind you having 2 entries). As long as nobody else minds.

Re: Weekend Competition: The Best Photographer in the world (15th-17th Sep 06)

    Thanks

Voting has started. Please keep going with the competition as it is only the second week. Looking for at least 8 entries next week.

I have put Solaris down as 2 photos as people may get confused and vote for his first photo, ultimately accruing on one set of results, this would be unfair. So I have put two seperate vote panels down for the photos.

Please review the photos and vote using the link below:

    http://snappoll.com/poll/131466.php

You have until Wednesday 23:59 to cast your vote

Thanks to everybody who took part in this weeks competition.

Cedar, thanks for the competition info. I quite like your photo, it's very imaginative. The mirror works well.
