And thus draws to a close a 52 hour week.

40 hours of work, and 12 hours of college.

And tomorrow it all starts again

    WMMFGT?

Paypal resolving my dispute and creditting my account with money after I "won" a lens from someone who is registered as a member of this website.

They failed to send the lens and then stopped communication, then removed themselves from being listed as an ebay member.

I'm sure the new labour luvvies will just follow in Thatcher's footsteps when she abolished the GLC and abolish the mayoral post and London assembly(?). It's a tit-for-tat world.

I'm just happy that we'll now get several years of pure entertainment and humour. I don't think any of the candidates exhibited any exceptional talents for the job. I'm glad to see the whining Livingston ousted, just because I can't stand him. Boris might yet show a greater propensity to listen to the desires of the populace...but then maybe not. Either way, it'll be fun watching. Big Smile [:D]

    Wmmfgt... landing an Olympus OM-1, complete with a 50mm f/1.4, a 28mm f/2.8, two extension tubes, and a couple of b+w filters... for £5!

A few problems though. The rewind crank is missing, the UV filter is jammed on on the 50mm lens (annoying, as it's pretty dusty behind the filter), and the cameras light-trap has failed.

Oh, and I've ended up with a fugly bag to carry it around with... which is going to be lost, mysteriously.

What - tell you all my secrets....?

The most important thing is the capture - I was shooting from fairly close with an SB800 firing full power. On earlier shots I had 3 SB800s firing at pretty much full power (yes I know what the books say...) to take some of the edge off the sun.

That gave me a shot not a million miles away from the end product - you really have to nuke the flash to get any kind of detail in the non sun side.

Into Photomatix to create a pseudo HDR with a fairly subtle touch to bring up the shadow side. Layer this with a raw processed for the sky and mask to remove most of the halos.

Then turn up the colours beyond all reason, clean up the dust and you're done.

Took somewhere between 5 and 10 mins. The key thing (for me) is that this is the shot I visualised when I pressed the button. Or rather just before when I set it up. I shot it to give this result.

Oh and being on the beach really really early helped too.
