Just been told I've won the Guardian's weekly pic comp and my pic is in todays Guardian Weekend magazine. Not actually seen it myself so looks like a trip down the newsagents is in order.

Developing a film from that "bought for £5" Olympus OM-1, and finding the camera has aged well... its lightseals are pretty much intact.

Well if you did the Ratcliffe  on Soar power station I am looking at it now and it`s a great image.Well done. Wonder if you will get the Canon camera of the cash. Last weeks paper was funny when on their "get it sorted out for me" page soemone complained that they had won a photography competition and still not received the prize after 3 months.

"Erm yes that`s us the Guardian " they replied and stated 10 other winners had been treated the same following the end of  nikon sponsorship and move to Canon. They had decided to give the cash instead until supply problems sorted out. Does`nt matter as long as you get the prize - well done again.

Now what can I do for "Grace" given your expertise at these things.Big Smile [:D]

No, it's just done the typical AF thing when the subject's too close... it's gone for the next thing to focus on.

Also, it could've been that your subject hadn't got enough contrast for the AF sensors to pick-up.

Re: What made you feel good today?

wmmfgt?.....well yesterday actually......NOT smashing up my 40D in a fall while shooting wildlife at a local wetlands.  I had the camera with 70-300 mounted on my tripod and had been taking some shots from the top of the hill overlooking the wetlands.  I left everything attached and walked down the hill, stopping to take some more shots on the way.  I was about half way down when I slipped on some damp clover and went A over T, ending up sprawled on the ground with one arm holding the tripod aloft 'Excalibur' style by one leg.  I rolled my ankle pretty badly, and made a spectacle of myself, but my gear emerged unscathed! Big Smile [:D]

Looks like I got a few pretty good shots too, but haven't had a chance to check & edit as yet Sad [:(]  Will post some in my gallery in the next few days.

Ouch! really sorry to hear about the ankle, alternate heat and cold packs and resting it with it elevated will be the best (I'll take my medic hat off now LOL!).  Glad you managed to save your equipment though, well done!
