    Re: Olympus Users

I too was there and took these, not with a E3 but a Fuji compact, I do use Olympus however, the E1 which is a great camera, but like you Abers, I will now use the E3 which they kindly handed out in the bags.

Sorry about this but the pictures of David Bailey & his wife didn't come out!

    Re: Olympus Users

I have an E-400 too and I love it.

One of my local photography shops has an Olympus open day tomorrow where all the new lenses and the E-3 will be available to have a play around with.

I was going to be going but now I fear that I can't as we have a staff shortage at work and I can't justify disappearing for a couple of hours leaving them in the lurch.

I'm saving for new lenses and a flash unit just now.  I want the 35mm macro lens and the 70-300mm tele zom lens along with the FL-36 flash unit.  I was hoping to get a shot of them all tomorrow.

Has anyone else got these lenses and what do they think of them?

    Re: Olympus Users

I've got the 35mm macro, very sharp, not really that fast, simple and basic but excellent value. Fl36 flash is good too, if you are thinking of gettng the E3 ever might be worth planning ahead and getting the new Fl36 R  which works remotely with the E3. I think you also get some extra accessories with it too like tripod bracket and diffuser.

The 7-14mm lens has arrivedBig Smile [:D]. Unfortunately I have been confined to barracks with a Man Cold (evil thing) so I haven't been able to take much with it yet. First impressions: really well built, heavy, big, prone to flare, but amazing results. Being so wide it gets a big range of contrast so exposure is a challenge but the limitations are me and I am looking forward to getting used to it. Here is an early attempt:

    Hi Guy

I've just looked at the ful size version of your pool image. Image quality is superb - what camera was it taken on?

    Cheers

You went for the big one then Guy Big Smile [:D] Yes that first one does look good. While you're in a spendthrift mood I can recommend the 300mm f2.8 Wink [;)]

Thanks Chris. I've got the E330. The image quality from this lens is quite breathtaking even through this, so with the likes of the E410, E510 and E3...Mon Dieu.

LOL, $5,895.00! Isn't that the one Oly make to order? It will take me a year to recover from this purchase (and my wife might take a bit longer). Thanks for the kind comment Veggie.

Hee hee. It does exaggerate things, I agree. Thanks for the kind comment too OldBoy.

As I'm feeling a bit better I'm off to take some photos to bore you all with later.

An aside: the region was hit by a 7.4 earthquake yesterday just off Martenique. Everybody here felt it except me as I was in my car! TypicalStick out tongue [:P].

    Re: Olympus Users

Setting up a flickr gallery has meant re-visiting and re-uploading lots of old stuff. Can't help thinking how well the Olympus DSLRs stand up against the Canikons [within the limits of my useage!]. Put a few from all the Olys I've had into one set - don't do people I'm afraid - all originally taken in JPEG - most cropped - bit of tweaking but little else - most taken with 50-200. That E-3 looks tempting for next year......

You'll need to let me know how you get on with your new lens, it's on my wish list and I'm hoping that I'll have saved enough for it by the end of January.

Looking good to start with though Big Smile [:D]
