    Transportation- planes,boats and trains

We've got the automotive thread, but how about something specific for planes, boats trains, trams, motorbikes, etc, etc. (or not so specific Smile [:)] )

I'll start the ball rolling with this shot of the Eurofighter doing a low pass at Waddington last year.

Here's one from my gallery.  Not quite as exciting as Webby's shot.  A sedate scene from the tiny island of Herm.

Very Dramatic Linda, No boats but plenty of planes. One from RIAT this year.

    Re: Transportation- planes,boats and trains

    Hi Ian,

It is a bit of an unusual angle, when we go to RIAT we always spend a day on the North side of the runway where the aircraft actually do most of their flying to keep clear of the flightline. This chap rather kindly decided to start a loop almost overhead and I just zoomed in on the cockpit as he did.

If you look to the left of the Pilots watch, the silver car is our's and I was stood just in front of it to take this, the reflection running over the pilots right shoulder is the North Perry Track.

    Thanks for the comment Ian.

    Cheers, Peter.

thats a cracking shot from the ground! Thought you had some sort of remote actually fitted to the plane. I'm guessing at a Canon 100-400.

Something much sharper Ian, it's taken using the Sigma 100-300 F4, I bought this lens S/H from Kevin Bates the year before last, it's a really sharp example of the lens, even with the 1.4x T/C fitted it's pin sharp, although the autofocus does need good light with the T/C Fitted.

I prefer this lens to the 100-400 as its internal focus and zoom, I find it a lot easier to pan with as a result.

    Cheers Ian.

    Peter.

Yup, Pete that's a stunner. Well impressed with how clear it is too, that's one hell of a lens and a very quick eye from you.

    Here's one from me.

    Re: Transportation- planes,boats and trains

Thanks David, I do remember being rather envious when I saw these shots go up in your gallery, cracking exposure and detail in this one.

My favourite of those I took at RIAT this year was this one, not the best technically, but I liked the

    overall effect.
