Is Stan Walker finally, really banned from the forum?

From across the western sea, I can only say it's past time. A certain amount of leeway has to be made, but vicious ethnic stereotyping and baiting is beyond the limits. Stan is one of the reasons I haven't visited this site so often in recent months.

Yes, he has been banned. A few week ago a "new member" appeared that sounded a lot like Stan, but unsure if he has been banned also. Big Smile [:D]

Nice to have you back swede. Big Smile [:D]

Re: ...this is what's wrong with this coutry.......

    adesw:

The answer to the problems does not lye in annoying devices but in a better law and punishment system.

The answer to the problem lies with the parents and them not taking responsibility for their children. If the children are not taught the boundaries of acceptable behaviour, then the Lord of the Flies situation will quickly ensue.

I agree that technical solutions, such as this mosquito device, don't solve the underlying problem, they just treat the symptom, and displace it to other areas. If you want to cure the disease, then you have to attack the root cause.

Besides, I've heard of these young whippersnappers going out and recording the noise on their phones and then using it as a ring tone that the teacher can't hear.

    mattharrisuk:
Back in your day Mods were beating the shizzle out of Rockers.
The same applies now. 'cept its Chavs against Rockers.

And the Mods and Rocker's had better style... I mean, come on...Burberry?!!

    mattharrisuk:

It was a select few, and thats what older people dont seem to get.
It all goes back to "your" day, when exactly the same thing happened, you just didnt have News 24 to constantly go over it.

and easier access to the high powered equipment of destruction such as firearms.

    mattharrisuk:
90%, probably even more, of teens are just normal, average, good people.
Its that small percentage that beat people up, kill people, steal, vandalize, and all sorts, that get all this publicity, and put a downer on the rest of us.

I'd put the figure higher than 90%, but those that are problematic make a much greater impact than the vast majority. It's a "squeeky wheel" thing.

    mattharrisuk:
All thats ever said is bring back corporal punishment and national service.
Neither will help. Eye for an eye, and giving ultraviolent, hormone fueled teens guns.

I think the only possible reason for nat. service to be a possible solution is as a surrogate parent to teach the unruly individuals some discipline and respect. Although it's not guaranteed that it will be taken up by the conscript and it's a skill that might make them more efficient thugs.

    mattharrisuk:
But its retarded to just point the blame at anyone in my generation and say we're all hooligans.

Yeah...but it's fun...the same was done to my generation. Look at the films from the 60s, rebel w/o a cause. The unruly teenager is a standard part of growing up: they are trying to find their niche in society, and that niche is usually occupied by an older fart that just doesn't seem to understand (but probably understands considerably more than the teen).

    mattharrisuk:
Better upbringings, better educations, better prospects in life, and just a more general strictness with these people, instead of letting them get away with it.
CCTV and better relations with the police and these "community support officers", not anti-pest devices tuned into the waveband of teenagers.

I do believe that some kids (the more visible ones) do not have responsible parents and so do not have a better upbringing. However, they are offered far more in terms of education and prospects in life than any other generation.

There was an amusing report recently how CCTV has had no real effect on crime. Of course this could just be a matter of the facility not being employed efficiently by the police force (probably too busy filling in forms and doing administrative tasks).

Thanks, now what happened to children being seen and not heard? Stick out tongue [:P] Big Smile [:D]

Thanks, I have always enjoyed this site, not least because MOST of the people are just decent, helpful folks.

A certain amount of eccentricity is charming, to be sure, but BUF stuff is just too much, blackshirts and all.

Nice to see you both back Swede and Alan Big Smile [:D], I was wondering where you were hiding.

And agree with you Swede eccentricity is one thing but being downright rude and insulting is not what this place is about....

Re: ...this is what's wrong with this coutry.......

in Ellie-maes reception class there is a particurlaly obnoxious woman who's kids are the rudest little 4 and 5 yr olds i have seen, her favourite expression is "did she touch you tyler?" this usually results from a teacher trying to remove her tantrum throwing child to a soft corner for his own safety and for the safety of other little ones, i have heard her tell this child to take no notice of her [teacher].. among other things, so straight away the child knows not only is it ok to disrespect teachers and other authority figures, its actually expected of him by the people he looks to for guidance, his parents.. now as he grows up his behavour will become worse and worse, i dread to think what will happen at secondary school, and beyond.. but i think i have a good idea.. i would actually like to go into ladbrookes and place a large bet that by the time he is 16 he will have scored at least his third ASBO
meanwhile the rest of the children live in fear of this child .. personally i dont think he should be allowed to mix with others til he is able to control his behavour but thats just me..

So very touched Crying [:'(] Yes, welcome back Swede although having been away myself at the same time can't say that I missed you. Big Smile [:D] However, with all these nice 'welcome backs' perhaps we ought to repeat the exercise more often eh? Wink [;)]

Nope, it's not just you, I'd prefer such a child to also be kept away from my own. Although, what should happen is this child should be taught how to behave in group. It would appear that in this case it is being left as an exercise for the school/teacher, when it should be happening at home.

There's a fine line, though, between disciplining any initiative/creativity/independence/inquisitivity/etc. out of a child and letting them run riot. In Holland, it's usually considered normal to let the little blighters "express themselves" and find their own limits. This probably explains much of what I consider to be an area of improvement about the nominal Dutch personality, but does give the kids greater self confidence and courage to explore.

Re: ...this is what's wrong with this coutry.......

Crikey, this is a great thread! I've only just found it.

Maybe the problem is that we're becoming too American - big gas guzzling 4x4s, cosmetic surgery, fast food, overweight etc. Some US friends of ours at nearby Fairford airbase told us they were astounded how American we're becoming. And that's in the heart of the Cotswolds!

Maybe that's why we're becoming more violent? Sorry, Swede, I really don't want to offend you, but there is a lot of violent crime there.

In the US, the cops carry guns and will hold you at gunpoint while you get your drivers licence from the glove compartment. Maybe our police need to be more aggressive with the new breed of United States of Great Britain thugs?

Or maybe we should just bring back National Service........Smile [:)]

Well if he's back as a Boy Named Sue, or as a Tom, *** or Harry he's/she's certainly playing it very cagey. He was never long in resisting the temptation to refer me to things that happened in a long ago era. No - I won't mention the word. Big Smile [:D]

I see the censors are at it again! Perhaps I should have entered Richard. Sad [:(]

    Ahhh, it's John C - Keyboard Warrior!

The 35 year-old 'mainframe engineer', Village Idiot from Lancashire with no portfolio who married two children. Got a word for you to look up - SYNTAX! It might make your posts a bit more readable and a bit less laughable! Wink [;)]

I thought you'd gone skulking off never to return... Did the members of other fora get fed up with your inane cobblers too so you've come back here to haunt us?

Please don't start with your racist cr@p again. It wasn't welcome the last time and it won't be tolerated this time. Since your return, your posts have consisted of nothing more than Googled answers... Put a 'proper' gallery up and we'll see if you have any photographic talent to back up your mouth! (That's if you're planning on sticking around this time as opposed to scurrying off with your tail between your legs after being soundly put down by more than one forum member). Stick out tongue [:P]

If you want to take a swipe at me again, take it to private messages... unless you want me to humiliate you for a second (or is it a third) time! Wink [;)]

I'm off to get some sleep before I go and do my 'menial' job tomorrow. Big Smile [:D]
