Re: Hello. I'm new here. New member introductions

Hi, and welcome to all the new members. It's always good to see this community getting bigger and I'm sure everyone new to the forum will find it really interesting and very useful.

I've been a member for some months now but have enjoyed reading the posts rather than contributing to the forum. Perhaps I should contribute a bit more...

Interesting to see how people started in photography - I started at a young age with a 110 given to me as a birthday present. I was given my first 'proper' camera (a Zenit SLR) whilst in my late teens. Although this camera was very basic, it did produce some really beautifully exposed, pin sharp pics. Since then, I've never really lost the bug and my kit now consists of conventional film loading Minolta SLRs along with a Fuji S9500 for all my digital work. I'm sure I will get myself a digital SLR at some point but the Fuji is proving itself to be ideal for the type of subjects I shoot (including infrared work).

I must admit I use the Fuji more than anything else nowadays and I've just set up my own website (www.moonstonegallery.biz) which showcases the type of subjects I'm into. If anyone fancies a look at it, I'd be grateful for any constructive criticism (or praise!).

    All the best to everyone.

hi my name is andrew, i have been doing photography for about 3 years and i am just about to turn 15 years old. My kit is : Nikon D40, Nikon D80, Nikon SB-800, Nikkor 55-200mm f4-5.6, Nikkor 18-55mm f3.5-5.6, Sigma 70-300mm APO macro, a few filters, centon tripod and an old set of extension tubes. I am from Watford and moved down to Plymouth a few years ago. I never would of been interested in photography if it wasn't for living in plymouth and my dad telling all the technical side of things. My non-landscape work is inspired by my emotions and my landscape work is inspired by photographers on this site and if i just like the look of something. The photographers that i like the work of is: Eliot Siegel, Tim Wallace, Stephen Dalton, Joe Burden and a few more on this site.
Art is emotion and to show a time in life.

    Hi,

my names Pete, i´ve just joined today and haven´t yet had time to look around the site completely or post any shots yet. Just thought I´d say hello and promote my petition to save the rainforests.!!!

I´ve only being taking serious shots for a couple of years, still enjoying it but hope to get some help and pointers into making my photos better. I use a Canon 400D with 18-55mm and 70-300mm lenses.

I now live in Valencia, Spain, having emigrated from the UK two years ago. I love it here and hope to share some of the great sights from around Spain.

    Pete

Re: Hello. I'm new here. New member introductions

Greetings from Australia. I have just taken up a subscription to this mag to save me buying it a month late in the newsagents here. I am new to photography as well. Bought a Canon 350D to take to Europe 18 month ago, didn't know how to use it so wanted to find out. Bought a fantastic book called 'Understanding Exposure' (I really recommend it!) and some camera mags and it all finally clicked in my head. I still have much to learn but I understand a lot more now and am comfortable doing manual exposures and shooting RAW sometimes - which I never was until recently.

I shoot with a Canon 350D and for Christmas my husband bought me the Sigma 17-70mm I wanted to replace my crappy 18-55mm kit lens. I have talked my boss into picking me up the Canon L series 200mm lens whilst he's in New York soon as it's cheaper there so I can't wait for that either.

I live in Sydney, am a 30 something female and enjoy taking photos underwater as well (I'm a scuba diver) but can't afford the housing just yet, LOL.

Looking forward to see all your wonderful shots.

Re: Hello. I'm new here. New member introductions

    Hi Everyone,

Thought I'd introduce myself as I've just registered on the site.

I'm quite new to 'serious' digital photography, I've always liked taking pictures, usually with mid-range digital compacts but recently inherited a Canon EOS 10D from my father in-law after he invested in a new EOS 40D. Since I got the 10D I've bought a couple of extra lenses - Cannon EF 75-300mm f4-5.6 III and a Tamron 17-35mm f2.8-4 SP AF Di
and have been searching for the perfect shot constantly. My camera hardly ever leaves my side these days.

I've been enjoying taking pictures and striving to get the best shot I can. I think I've got a fair way to get to the standard of some I've seen in DCM.

I like taking picures of the world around us, I wouldn't say I'm too keen on taking pictures of people or animals but mainly still life etc.

I've put some of my pictures in the Reader Portfolio and also have Flickr site that shows off some more of my shots. I'd welcome any feedback and comments.

    Thanks

    Steve

welcome steve, no better place for sound advice, useful opinions and inane banter.

On the "General" forum there's some stuff on how to link to your gallery from your posts.

    all the best.

Re: Hello. I'm new here. New member introductions

HI my name is Cris I am also new. Been a member for a couple of months after being asked to teach digital Photography at my school in Stamford Lincs. I was a holiday snapper however was always interetsed in getting better. Now I have the chance and time. I first bought the mag as insperation for my students who took everything on board, so did I. We are learning together and find reading the mag is both informative and challenging. Both myself and my students try to capture the images we see. As funding is a big problem, my students are using Samsung compact 8mp which in themselves are very limited, however, we do want to give those of you with SLR's a run for your money. All my students will be setting up accounts and I hope those of you who have the time will take a look at the work we are trying to do and give your opinions. As I say to my classes, I am not the be all and end all of their work, they need to have as many people give advice to get it right. Lets be honest, I am a novice but love to not only take photo's but love to see my students work.

    Hi everyone!

My name is Fabrizio (which means something like "Blacksmith") and i live in Italy, on the Ligurian Riviera.

I am a fire fighter and an amateur photographer that spends every minute available from work and family (my wife loves my camera... she dream to use it as fuel for the fireplace!) for shooting around.

I started with a strange-no-name-black-box with a film cartridge when i was 8 years old, now i use a Nikon d300 and i love architectural and travel photography, but i happy to face every challenge.

What also can i say? Nothing important, see you on this forum!
