    Another new (ish) member

    Hi all,

I'm a relatively new member - first time of playing around with the forum anyway. Please feel free to take a look at my profile of pictures - any comments, suggestions, tips or advice are greatly appreciated.

Thanks to those who have already commented on my pictures.

Also, is there a way of seeing recently uploaded pictures - as in those pictures uploaded today?

I look forward to seeing all your galleries and hope you enjoy my pictures.

    Cheers, Pete. (scousepete79)

Hi Pete & welcome to the forum,

To view the galleries in updated order:

Click on reader portfolios at the top of this page, this will display the portfolios (Galleries) in a random order (the default), click on the drop down box, select "Recently Updated" then wait anywhere from a few seconds to a few min's for the page to refresh and the galleries will be displayed with the most recently updated in the top left.

    Cheers, Peter.

    Hello. I'm new here

Hi, my name is Sue but I'm often called moon.

I was brought up with cameras all around me - my father was an amateur photographer - taking wedding photos etc in his spare time.  I learnt how to develop b&w photos at a young age (really impressed the art teacher *giggles*).  My cousin worked for Kodak.

I always had point and shoot type cameras all my life and enjoyed taking pictures.  I  now have what I believe is called a digital bridge camera, and love it.  Being able to see the pictures I've taken instantly is fantastic.  I have to say though all the settings baffle me a bit - I can understand the logic but putting them into practice has my head in a spin and I usually end up using the auto settings.

I'm hoping being here will help me to learn to use this camera in a more manual way.

    Cheers

Nothing wrong with auto-mode, and is the one I use most often. Any questions or problems then just post in a thread and someone will be along to answer. Big Smile [:D]

Re: Hello. I'm new here. New member introductions

    Hello all,

My name's Lee - I've been an avid reader of these inspiring forums for several months, there are some very talented people on here who (thankfully) seem happy to share their tips, experiences and best of all images!

I got into digital photography a couple of years ago, using a Sony compact and it's been an addiction ever since! I currently use a Canon 40d with a few different lenses and recently invested in a Canon 100mm - 400mm L series lens - I struggle to take this off the camera! (whoever said good glass is worth its weight in gold wasn't kidding!)

As a wildlife fan - My favourite photographers are (in no particular order!) Frans Lanting, Andy Rouse, Steve Bloom and Doug Perrine

I'm looking forward to adding more images to my gallery and contributing to the forums aswell!

cheers & keep up the very good work!

    Lee

Hi I'm MD. I give lectures & slideshows of our travels. I have just bought a digital projector, but as yet have no digital camera. Some help with the best one to buy to project on a large screen, would be most helpful.

    Many thanks

Re: Hello. I'm new here. New member introductions

Hello everyone, I have been lurking around for a while reading posts and trying to learn everything I can! I got my Olympus sp570 today (Early graduation presentSmile [:)]) and have been out taking loads of pictures and just generally practising using all the functions. I have a gallery with some old pictures from my point-and-shoot camera and will be putting some from my new camera up when I take some decent ones. (Could be a while though!).

Re: Hello. I'm new here. New member introductions

    Hi all

My name is Phil, you can see where I come from on the left there. I've been into photography for a long time. I've had lots of different point and shoots over the years and then my grandad gave me his Chinon SLR (he was a very keen amateur too but before the digital and internet age, he would've loved this place), it was too expensive for me to develope prints so it sat in a cupboard for long enough. I got it out after being very dissapointed with a digi point and shoot I bought (Casio thing) but it's still expensive to develope lots of 35mm films so, as I'm now in a position that I can afford to do it I bought a Nikon D40X last year, I was disappointed with the compatibility of lenses on that so I sold it and upgraded to a D80 which I really enjoy using. I have three lenses... Nikkor 18-135 kit lens, Nikkor 70-300 VR and a Sigma 10-20HSC EX.

I'm still discovering what sort of photos I like to take but have only realised that I like to take photos. Mostly disappointed with my results I've posted a few and would like to get some feedback, every time I look through the galleries here I'm inspired by all your work.

I like to say thanks for sharing your work and taking the time to get to know the new guys

All the best everyone and I look forward to speaking to as many of you as I can

    Phil
