Guess what? I'm new here too.

My story isn't much different to many others here. I have always been interested in photography (from quite an early age anyway) and back in the day couldn't afford to take heaps of photo's when I had to pay for film and processing etc (and parents always telling me not to waste the shots as they wouldn't buy another film for a certain time when I was younger).

Then along comes digital and while I knew that the cost of film didn't come into it any more I was still somewhat apprehensive about taking too many photo's.
I'm pleased to announce that I've grown out of that now and get shots of pretty much anything & everything.
I take several shots of the same subject most often as I am not confident enough yet to limit myself. I need a few shots so i have the option of choosing the best of them.

Anyway, enough waffle. I am still quite new to the DSLR scene (bought my first somewhere near the beginning of last year) and currently own a Canon EOS 400D, which I am very happy with. Of course the financial problem still exists to possibly a greater extent now that I want this lens & that lens, various bits & pieces & so on.

I've had a quick look through some of the galleries and can only hope that someday I might be able to offer some equally impressive work.

I look forward to learning from you all.

I guess this is the place to start - I just stumbled upon this site (literally, using StumbleUpon) and I think I'm glad I did. I hope to be able to learn a lot more. I'm an amateur - I just like to have fun taking pictures. So, just wanted to say hi :)

Hi everyone, another new one to add to the growing community.

My names Dean (Deano, Dino) ive been taking photos since studying at London College of Printing in '90. Did 2 years travelling around taking photos of live bands for a large night club chain, then got into aviation photography. I've already posted some of my work in the transport section of the forums, please check it out and let me know what you think. I use Canon gear, currently using 40D body with grip, 350D body as back up, Canon100-400 LIS USM, Canon 28-135 IS USM, Sigma 10-20 EX DC lenses Canon 430EX flash and lots of silly bits and bobs.

Don't be worried about posting apparently low-quality photos. We all had to start at the beginning, even the "self-confessed masters" and the "acknowledged-by-others experts". Post some work, you'll be surprised by the amount of help offered if it's asked for.

I'm new here.

Not much to say about me and my kit at this stage - I've joind, like many people do I expect, to pick up some advice before I take the plunge with my first DSLR. I'm sure I'll stick around though, once I'm up and running.

This is something I've been wanting to do for years, ever since being given a lovely old SLR by my grandfather - can't remember what it was, it was Russian, and was satisfyingly heavy.

I try to be as creative as I can with my photography, and have managed some surprisingly good shots with my little Sony Cybershot DSC-T3 - but it's time to move on and up.

I've just re joined having been away for a while (so long that I'd forgotten my username, password and email address until I found an old post by me) The post was from three years ago and my spelling/ punctuation was appaling! Haha oh dear, I hope it's a little better now, I'm embarassed by what I was like at that time.

I'm 17 and studying photography at A level amongst other subjects (art, media, and English) and am keen on equestrian photography especially, my username was Chloe Redfern before (I may also have been photoclo at one time, eep)

Hello all,

I'm kind of new to this website, although I've looking in as a 'visitor' for a few weeks but finally decided to take the plunge!

I've enjoyed taking photos for a quite a while now, and over the last year or so have started to take more of an interest in photography and learn & develop my skills/knowledge and experience a bit more.

Used to have (and still own) a Fuji S6500fd, but last week i took the plunge and purchased a Nikon D80!  Have only taken a few 'test shots' with it out in the garden but so far I'm very impresseed with it.

Anyway, I'm here to learn, pick up as much information, advice, guidance and knowledge as I can in a bid to improve my photography....oh, and I suspect I shall ask a few questions along the way :)

Hi all i am also new here today,i used to play around with cameras years ago when i had my minolta 9000 slr.
Just starting again and have just bought the canon 400d with 18-55mm lens and last week i just bought the EFS 55-250MM IS lens.
So i am on a steep learning curve starting over again,i am sure there will be plenty of helpers here willing and able to lend a hand,thanks.
