    alexmac:

I like it. Have you thought about giving it a go in balck and white or a slight sepia feel?

    Alex

    Thanks for the comments all

Alex --- The original picture i had of this i did try in sepia, but it seem a little "flat" to me, so i used one of the brushes adobe to saturate certain colours to bring them out a lot more. I think i will have another go at this weekend and try working with the channel mixer and see what happens..........

    BTW leopard picture is fantastic

    Re: Post your best here...

I´m brand new to this site, the magazine as well as the community but this forum really caught my eye. I have been looking for some exchange of advise and ideas amongst others. I have had a great time browsing your pics and what really stuck to me was the smells of the market in Dehli, Shelfy´s romantic girls and the uncomfortably close leopard. Feelwise that is. Inspirationwise the ''gradient'' effect in PS was to me a completely new and VERY interesting suggestion on how to play around with pictures. It immeadiately lead to another idea: I will try and do a similar effect by taking an ageless photo of mine and grade it from sepia to color. To get a feeling of time passing by in the picture. I look forward to working on that!

Here is a picture I`ve played around with and really would love to get your opinion on!

So many very cool shots, Shelfy I seen your gallery earlier today and I love the shot in B&W of the threee girls, The steam engines coming together is realy awesome. Caught in the light, had my imagination realy cooking too. cool form.P6301773_edited-1.jpg This shot of a hummer as it was baking off a flowering bush was taken in a macro mode with a 5omm lens, I did do some lighting with PS. The  back ground is gravel.Again this site has some great talent on it.
Nurture the light just right, and reap the rewards.

Mmmm - would'nt it be good if the front page picture of the day was chosen from this thread....?!
I think this is a much better way of showing others your best work than leaving it hidden in a gallery -where, with the best will in the world we can't see them all. Keep them coming!

I gotta agree with your last comments Sue Allen. I hope you still have the same view point after seeing this "Transluscent Fly".

Good photo of a dragonfly. Maybe a bit overexposed, perhaps the levels... hmm. Still a good photo though.

great fly, slight shame about its lack of tail. and erm, is it me or are senior military personnel getting younger these days, interesting pic.

meanwhile, some old cows given a little watercolour treatment.

I gotta agree with you Boltondave. That's the great thing about someone else with a keen photographic eye giving their views on your work. I will try a wee "tweek" or two using levels . Thanks for the advice.

PS  My 83 yr old dad was a railway driver and would just love your B/W steam locomotive shots, even more than most of us do.

The tail of dragonfly is there Shelfy. It was just I did not reduce the file enough for it to fit in the window without having to scroll side ways.  Try scroll bar. next time I will try and ensure the subitted photo fits without the need. I think you will find most photos have similar problem. But thaks for pointing thid defficiency out..

It's probably the watercolour treatment that's caused this shot to look like it's really over-exposed having all the light areas completely burnt out to white. Sorry... don't want to sound cruel but this shot didn't really do anything for me personnally.

    Re: Post your best here...

whoops, sorry Gil, that was a bit dumb of me.

Thanx David, fair comment, dunno, its hard to say why I really like this pic, certainly looks much better large size...to me at least. original road was a dirty grey, watercolour "treatments" do tend have that burning out effect.

Strangely, its the years biggest selling print off my humble web-site...at the last count...erm, three. LOL. thanx gran.
