    Problem with CD

I have a problem with the CD with issue 68. In the Videos section, when I click on any of the photos (e.g. HDR – Bath bridge), Macromedia player starts, but then crashes with the following error:

Macromedia Projector has encountered a problem and needs to close.  We are sorry for the inconvenience.

If you were in the middle of something, the information you were working on might be lost.

Please tell Microsoft about this problem

     etc

I can play the individual .MOV files OK.

Can anyone suggest a fix please? I've tried all the Compatibility options - none work. Turning off hardware acceleration fixes it, but I don't want to keep that setting for everything..

    Many thanks for your help!

    Re: Problem with CD

Suggest you look at the event log and see what the error message says. Left click on start button, Control Panel, Administrative Tools, Event Viewer. Select the Application one and scroll down the list until you see a error message. Double click on the error icon and it will open a window and give you information on the error. Post it here and we might be able to assist but some error messages aren't very clear. If no error message appears, related to the problem, then look in the System event viewer. Big Smile [:D]

    Re: Problem with CD

Errors in Application log are as below:

EventID: 1000    Faulting application video_pc.exe, version 10.0.0.188, faulting module quicktime.qts, version 7.4.1.14, fault address 0x00151354.

Already uninstalled & re-installed quicktime in an attempt to fix, but errors persist. Installed latest NVIDIA FX 5700 driver today - still no good.

3 clicks to the left on Hardware Acceleration fixes it. This disables Direct 3D and Direct Draw accelerations. Looks like video_pc.exe is calling quicktime, which is using DirectX, which is failing.

Looked at repairing DirectX. No means of doing so. Can't uninstall. Latest version installed. DXDIAG says its all fine.

Managed to fix it - without having to take away hardware acceleration for all graphics apps.

In QuickTime - Edit - Quicktime Preferences - Advanced - Use "Safe Mode" - not DirectX.

    Martin,

Thanks for posting the solution to this problenm with Quicktime. I also had the same problem, and I can now view the videos. I habve suggested to digitial camera that they publicise the Quicktime preference settings needed for running their videos
