    Does this site work??

    Hi,

This site was recommended to me by a fellow photographer - apparently its the best in the business.  However, as much as I'd love to be a part of it, I can't get anything to work!  I've tried building up my Gallery etc, and nothing shows there, despite it saying its 'uploaded'.  Am I doing something wrong?  Can someone point me in the right direction of how I go about uploading pics to DCM?

    Thanks in Advance!

    Re: Does this site work??

Stephen, I've set up 4 test albums in your gallery, all seems to be working fine.  You can delete add or rename them as required, and also delete and replace my test pics that I added.  This should get you started.  http://community.dcmag.co.uk/photos/stephen67s_gallery/default.aspx

Click User portfolios / Control panel  (right hand side) /  Photos (left hand menu).  You can then select the album you wish to add pics to, and once uploaded click save.

Click User portfolios / Control panel (right hand side) / Albums (left hand menu)  Here you can add delete, or rename the albums.

When using any of the controls in the gallery you will very often have to scroll the boxes around to find the save button. Embarrassed [:$]

Hope this helps.  This Gallery software is a nightmare.  Wink [;)]

If your still stuck then PM me.

    Stephen,

hopefully Lurjalot's advice has sorted things out for you. If not it may be worth trying again with a different web browser. I couldn't post to my gallery for ages but administrators could. JD finally suggested I try Firefox, and it worked (I use Internet Explorer normally).

Worth trying if all else fails.

This is a temperamental website but I think worth persevering.

I use Internet explorer all the time Wink [;)] , except when I'm testing my own site, then maybe I'll switch to firefox.   To be honest firefox normally has issues with this site, especially when pasting pics into the forum.

    Re: Does this site work??

I know that Firefox has some issues, but it's better than not being able to post at all, and for some months I just couldn't get the gallery to upload my pictures. IE works for me now again too (no idea why). A month or two ago I was one of those who couldn't access the forum at all for a few days and then one day I could again.

I find it best just to go with the flow. If one things stops working, try something else...

    Re: Does this site work??

I too , had trouble uploading to the site when I first joined. It took a small band of determined fellow forum users to get me going. I ended up having to use Fire Fox as well becoause IE would not upload. Not had any trouble with this method...uh-oh, now I am sure I will go up in flames having said that.

As this is the only site that I experience such troubles on I suggest its this site/server/forum that has (many) problems with supporting Firefox (and indeed Opera) Wink [;)]
If I want to paste an image here I now switch this site to run on IETab on Firefox - now I never have to run IE Big Smile [:D]

Thankyou so much for all your help everyone - but alas, still no luck.  It lets me go through the procedure for uploading OK, but the pic doesn't show in my gallery.  I guess it must be an IE thing....

Stephen, click the button to upload the image, when it's done, and presents you with an empty box, (where the image should be) Click the preview button, then save. Wink [;)]

This might be daft, and you may have done this already, but make sure the 'Enable Album' box is checked. To get there go to Albums and click on the name of the album. a dialogue box will come up so you can edit it.  Just check the appropriate box.
