Hi

Digital SLR magazine would like to publish one of my pictures in their mag, which is nice of them. the problem I have is they want it 300dpi, now I have done this but it has made the file size over 16 meg, is this right or am I doing something wrong.

Really would appreciate any help.

You've presumably just increased the DPI setting in the image size function? Just doing this on its own keeps the same physical size of the image making the overall file size much bigger. Tick the constrain proportions option and reduce the width and height to make the file size smaller, also need to tick resample I think.

Untick resample, that'll turn everything off. Then just put in 300 for the resolution. Make sure its on pixel/inch though.

Most welcome.

That just changes the resolution, leaving the dimensions how they are.
If you do it with resampling enabled, it upsizes/downsizes the photo accordingly, which you dont need.

One of the little things Adobe should have laid out differently imho.
Confused me for ages.
