I'm waiting for Microsoft to enter the market - then you can easily identify what camera you want just like you identify windows -the pro version or the home version. It will require three buttons to delete an image (ctrl+alt+del) and offer you a paper clip with a lengthy wizard to help you get the perfect shot... "I see you are trying to takea picture..." It will contain a blue screen of death just to make sure you miss that ultimate picture or lose a whole days worth of photography and it will require you to connect to the internet everyday to download the latest updates that you don't want but will ensure your battery is half empty before you've left the house. Oh, and finally, it will come with a file system that ignores all card space over the first 2gb even if you do have a 50mp sensor!

Of course, as has been said, this will be in response to the iDSLR & iCompact released byApple a year before. Both models which will work flawlessly so long as you accept a single bindng contract that requires you to use iEverything to process your images and then iHosting to shares you images on line!

Don't forget the Linux version. Everyone will be downloading different user interface software that does the same thing - because they can! And it'll be pointless, because all the real nerdies will be missing shots because they're changing settings by typing in the following:

c:/changeset /ap:f16 /shut:125 /wb:cloudy /focus:2m /metr:CW /shoot:continuous /ISO:200 /mode:prog /qual:large /file:RAW

but they'll have their cameras clustered and networked in their bedrooms just so they can tell everyone about it!

How about this:

• take a fast prime (1.2, 1.4 or 1.8)
• add vibration reduction (VR, IS, OS etc.)

At present, VR is usually only for zooms, alowing you to (almost) take shots that you could with a fast prime.

Just imagine - combining a fast prime with VR, used with the really fast sensors available now, would mean that we would be able to take pictures that are currently not possible. It would open up a whole new world.

I agree with BoltonDave, I'd like a really small body but still compatible with my lenses, so I could put on, say a 50mm 1.7 and have a  DSLR not much bigger than a compact. But I'd like top notch build quality.
