    Mounting & Framing etc

    Hi All,

Parts of this question have been done before, but...... well you know......

I'm relatively new to this "game", however, I've now reached the stage where I'd like to mount and frame a couple of my pics.  I've got a few prints (from Photobox), which I'm pleased with.  If it makes a difference they are printed on 18"x12" and 15"x10" paper, although there's a good white boarder around them.  Thing is I'm not that sure where to go from here?

What do you guys all do?  Ultimately I'd like the satisfaction of printing, mounting and framing my own pics, but I don't currently have the time and I can see things getting pretty expensive that way.  So I reckon I've got a few choices.
    • Scrap the prints and get the whole shebang done by someone else, but that could be expensive and unless I use Photobox I'd not be sure of the print without a trial run or two.
    • Have a custom mount made online that fits a standard frame from say Habitat or Ikea etc.
    • Take the print to a local mounting framing shop and ask them to do it.
You get the idea.  What do you lot do and who do you use?  I want an option that I can repeat as I hope, as I go along to do more of my prints it's not just a one-off.

Any thoughts, comments etc all very welcome.

Oh and have a great w/e everyone! Big Smile [:D]

You are doing it the hard way round - I have bought slip in Bevel mounts to take A4 Prints - These mounts fit a standard 14x11 frame which I buy locally at £4.99 (wide natural pine frame). I select the picutres I want to frame - print them on my Epson R285 and 10 minutes later it is framed and ready to hang.
    Mounts from HERE

Unfortunately the place I buy my frames from does not list them on their site.

    Re: Mounting & Framing etc

    Hi Steve,

Confession time - 2 days ago I took my mother-in-law and her sister-in-law to Swindon; that might sound bad enough but..........they wanted to visit a shop called "The Range" I'd never heard of it but decided to do as I was told.

Just inside the entrance on the left hand side was possibly the largest range of frames and mounts I have ever seen available from stock, a huge range of designs, finishes and sizes.......A3 frames with mounts for under well under a Tenner, even if you wanted a different mount it still looked cheap. (A4 for well under under a Fiver).

I was really surprised, I would never use this stuff for commercial images (well probably not) but for own use around the home - why not?

If you ever find yourself in the Hunslet area of Leeds, they have a store there, it's worth a look at least before you make your mind up.

    Just a thought, Cheers, Peter.

Oh Lord, please help me to be the person that my dog thinks I am.

Thanks for you replies folks, much appreciated.

Peter - That's actually only a couple of km's from Leeds main station and I'm regularly in Leeds, so I will definitely go and have a butchers!

    Thanks again,
    Steve
