It won't, Abbers. My argument isn't with the photographer - the images that get up there are very good and worthy. My gripe is that there does seem to be a bias in the way they are selected. I have trawled through quite a few of the galleries in this past week or two and on the whole there is an awful lot of garbage - only to be expected I suppose. However, I have also come across some really good work from photographers who have never ever had their work published, and it should be encouraged via the front page, for the richness of work on this site should be open to all that way. Now, DCM ensure me that the search through hundreds of galleries every day to sellect the POTD and MPOTD images. I find that very hard to believe under the circumstances, but they insist that they do.
My view is that the team at DCM need to put together these images very quickly and have a small number of peoples galleries where they know they can find work of reasonably high enough standard. That's OK, but if that is the case, then at least have the decency to be honest enough and say so. Am I envious? - NO, that's not me at all. Am I angry about it? - YES, but only because I would like to see a wider choice of images that truly reflect those photographers that are on the site.
